Greatest Weekend of the Year !

I would like to share with you all an email my friend send me this morning.

Quote:
A gentle mist hangs in the early morning air, but meters above the ground, shrouding the earth in a reassuring embrace. There is also something else in the air on the serene October morn, something intangible, something altogether contradictory, but at the same time, strangely complimentary to the events that will unfold throughout this day.

.it is the silence.

What follows is a montage of slow fade in and fade out shots from ground level. Pit Straight. Hell Corner. Mountain Straight. Griffin's Bend. The Cutting. McPhillamy Park. Reid Park. Skyline. The Esses. The Dipper. Forrest's Elbow. Conrod Straight. Murray's Corner.

Then the first noise begins. the rattle of a tyre gun. the crank of ratchets. the hissing of hydraulic pumps, all echoing across the broad paddocks of rural Bathurst.

And then it happens. you see this before you hear it. A flock of birds in a nearby tree are sent skyward as they flee in fright. Then you seem to hear and feel it at the same time. The vibration makes your back teeth rattle, your vision blur and is almost enough to pulp the marrow in your bones into a visceral red slurry. This is the starting of but one car.

Slowly the fog lifts and The Mountain is revealed. The first rays of genuine sunlight illuminate it, and it stands above the surrounding low lands like a glorious beacon to the faithful minions. This is truly motorsport's Holy Land.

Then the entire compliment of 50 racing cars start up, roll out and take their positions on the starting grid. The earth is shaking and grinding. The low bass rumble of the collective V8 engines agitates the underlying sedimentary rock table to such an extent that it begins to turn in boiling hot liquid magma, giving off a shimmering heat haze across pit straight. Then two red lights blink out on the start/finish line, and The Mountain erupts in a 7 hour pyrotechique display of V8 fueled glory.

Enjoy the best day of the year, my friends!
.
No matter here your cheering for come Sunday - Have a Good weekend everybody !

Cheers Buckshot.

Nothing else to add but let's get it on. This has to be truly one of the great weekends on Australia's if not the World's sporting calender.
