Nations Cup....?
Lets pretent you've got a dump load of money to spend on a Nations Cup warhorse for this season- the question is, what weapon will you choose?
There is the new Porsche, which is apparently much better than the previous model. (I know Tony Quinn was rather gobsmacked at its performance in road going trim, without the extra HP {lots of extra} Peter Fitzgerald was going to tune into it). There is the $700,000 Ferrari thing that is a 360 Challenge with trick bits included. The GTR Lamborghini- tha Lambo was very quick last year, but it didn't finish enough races to win the championship. Stokell drove this model car in Adelaide and gave everyone a caining... The Monaro- practially a Monaro shell with V8 Supercar guts and mechanicals. The beefed up Mustang- will this happen anyways? Something different? Some form of BMW? Supra? Nissan Godzilla? What do you think? |

Dodge Viper with full LeMans style bodykit would suit me. Also wouldn't mind the new Monaro.

I would go with a 360 at this stage. However, for 2003 I would like the new Maserati GT Coupe V8 thankyou very much (especially if they do another Assetto Corsa version).

I must be the odd one out here, but I just can't get into Nation's Cup. For some reason it just doesn't click with me. If I had that sort of budget, I wouldn't consider anything but a V8 Supercar.

Come on David, There are more than 2 types of cars on the grid, people actually overtake each other and most of the drivers will actually talk to you and let you look at their cars. The purchace price is high, but the running cost a cosiderably less than a V8 soupcar

Have to agree, i love the Nations Cup.
hmmm tough question, for outright competitiveness then definatly the Viper or Lambo, or maybe a Nissan Skyline R34, Honda NSX or Toyota Supra, turned out in Japanese GT series bodykits. I would probably go for a Mercedes C Class, and do it up in the Le Mans body kit from the CLK-GTR or CLK-LM. Last edited by racer69; 8 Feb 2002 at 10:50. |

Will be interesting to read what the patents actually say - patent numbers ps0006 filed 17/1/02 and ps0078 filed on 22/1.

I would go for a 360 Modena.
I think the nations cup and GT production series are great. Finally, two series that don't rely primarily on freaking Ford or Holdens and V8's! |

anything but a Porsche...those cars just bore me to tears but i wouldnt say no to getting a free one
Probably a Lamborghini as it is a total weapon (once the reliability is sorted and penalties stop getting slapped on it) the Mustang thingy that Bowe drove was quite good too and i like the sound of a Marcos mantis in the series....... ohhhhh I dont know ???....can I just have a Suzuki swift and run in GTP for a year and think about it ???? |

I want to know why the GTR has to go in the nations cup but the EVO 6s and STi s when they both have the same power output standard(206Kw thanks to jap laws) the GTR has more potential when fully tuned, but the GTP cars only have exhaust, susp, and a few othe minor mods so why is it in nations cup?

The Nations Cup series is absolutely stunning, can't get enough of it. I would really love to see someone run the BMW M3 , like what was run in the ALMS in 2001. Big win kits and lots of power.

I think there was a new M3 run at Bathurst last year. I can't remember who ran it, but it had practically just been finished. Also, I know BMW are buiding some GT3-style stripped out M3s - maybe one of them could make it to Nations' Cup.

Mac- that was Peter Boylan in class A GTP, and there are more on the way... they'll be a weapon when sorted. It's a shame the V8 Z3 never worked out

That is not the new Porsche, that is a current 911 turbo. The new Porsche is still a GT3, with the main visual difference being a large rear wing. Of course there are also more changes under the skin to make it go better. |

Apparently Richo, Fitzy and so on have got Porsche GT3 Supercup cars, like which race at the AGP some years, or Alex Davison races in Germany
