Arai GP5 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
-----FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-----

Subject: Mitsubishi goes V8 Supercar racing in 2004.
Date: March 1, 2004.
Contact: Communications Manager, Arai GP5.

SUMMARY.
Name: Mitsubishi Arai Racing
Sponsors: Arai Helmets, Mitsubishi
Franchise Owner: Arai GP5
Drivers: #1 Marcos Ambrose
#4 Mark Winterbottom
Manufacturer: Mitsubishi
Test Track: Mallala

-START-

Mitsubishi goes V8 Supercar racing for 2004.

In a move set to cause a stir in the Australian motorsports community, Mitsubishi Motors Australia today announced their bold new entry for the 2004 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship Series.

The enormous announcement took place today at Mitsubishi's Australiasian headquarters, in Tonsely, Adelaide, in front of a gobsmacked media throng.

The team, to be known as Mitsubishi Arai Racing, is under no illusions as to how tough the challenge ahead will be, but is going into their debut season with all the proper tools at their disposal.

"The severe cut in funding to Ford teams by their newly instated boss from stateside has led Mitsubishi to bring forward it's plans of entering the V8 Supercar Fantasy Series." said team Managing Director, Arai GP5.

"Mitsubishi already had three Magna V8 Supercars built, as MOOFVESCO had wanted us to build cars early for homologation reasons. Until today, they had remained deep in a secret bunker at our Lonsdale plant. The cars are complete with Chrysler 5.0L V8 engines, sourced from DaimlerChrysler HQ." stated Mr Arai.

"The opportunity to get so many fantastic human resources simply would not have existed at our scheduled 'arrival' date of 2006, so we opted to take the plunge, and here we are today." added MMAL MD, Tom Phillips.

Mitsubishi Arai Racing has secured the services of defending V8 Supercar champion Marcos Ambrose. The likable Tasmanian will bring the Number One plate to the team, and is excited about the opportunities ahead.

"Driving for a factory team in any situation is a great feeling, but this team really has a great feel about it." said the Devil Racer at today's announcement.

"I go into 2004 with the confidence and resources to defend the Number One on my door. Big expectations, I know, but completely realistic."

Joining him in battle will be 2003's other champion, young hot shot and Konica champ, Mark Winterbottom.

"I thought the last deal happened quickly!" exclaimed Winterbottom.

"But with the happenings of the last few weeks, other options became harder to maintain. It was actually Marcos who said I should come with him to Adelaide for talks with Mitsubishi, and it soon became clear that this would be the place to be in the 2004 V8 Supercar Fantasy Series."

The teams primary sponsor will be Arai Helmets. Mr Arai GP5 added "Arai Helmets are the world's best, but of late, drivers have forgoten this. Names like Webber, Barrichello and Coulthard have switched to Schuberth, and even this team's two drivers used to use Arai, but went to Bell. Well, now they are back, and this deal is step one on the return to world domination - helmet style."

-END-

Apologies for the length. If anyone has a problem with their name being mentioned above, please PM me and I'll gladly change it. Guess you would have to join to do that, though. Bear in mind, it is FANTASY.
