Congratulations to Ten-Tenthers!
Congratulations to Ten-Tenther's Kevin Turner ( Son of our historic moderator John Turner) and Mike Hoyer. Well done guys!
MSA press release received yesterday afternoon: Renault MSA Young Journalist & Photographer awards for Kevin Turner and Michael Hoyer Kevin Turner, a reporter for Autosport magazine, and Michael Hoyer, a freelance photographer, have been voted the Renault MSA Young Motor Sport Journalist and Photographer of the Year for 2006 respectively. Both will tonight (Friday) attend the MSA’s star-studded Night of Champions ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club on London’s Pall Mall where they will each receive a cheque for £1,000. The event is attended by the newly crowned champions from each of the MSA’s British championships. Kevin, aged 24 from Fleet in Hampshire, and Michael, aged 26 from Ipswich in Suffolk, will also be awarded a trophy and, in addition to their cheques, enjoy the kudos of being recognised as winners of the most prestigious awards among British motor sport’s media. MSA Chief Executive Colin Hilton comments: "Since the inception of these awards in 2002, the level of competition and work submitted has become progressively stronger and in 2006 it was no exception. Our youngest entrant was just 12 years old right up to the age limit of 26 and we thank every one who took part – there were some fabulous pieces of work covering a wide variety of motor sport disciplines to consider and the judges took close to five hours to reach their decisions. "Ultimately, Kevin demonstrated a great ability to hunt out the news and bring races to life in his reports, while Michael’s eye for a picture meant he captured some truly magic moments in UK motor sport from this past season. Both richly deserve their awards and we look forward to welcoming them at our Night of Champions." Renault UK’s Director of Press & PR Tim Jackson says: "Once again, it’s been a delight to support what are two very important and exciting awards. Renault, like the MSA, is a true believer in nurturing young talent, as proven by our race championships in the UK. It’s great to see two fresh faces such as Kevin and Michael coming through and both, I am sure, have great futures ahead of them." Details of 2007’s awards – open to British media aged 25 or under on 1 January 2007 submitting work that covers UK motor sport – will be announced in due course. Many congratulations both. From what I've seen and read of your work these awards are richly deserved.

I did have a shave actually, especially for the awards. Had quite a stupid beard going on...
Anyway, thanks for the congratulations everybody! I've known about this for a month, but couldn't tell anybody. The awards were superb, great night and meal etc. Felt a bit queasy on Saturday morning though... |

Apologies for the delay in posting everyone - I don't get on here as much as I used to. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the congratulations and to say well done to Mike because I didn't get a chance to do so on the night!

I should probably also thank Ian Sowman as well because I'm not so sure I'd have been in a position to win anything had it not been for ff1600.co.uk. |
