FOM to help Bahrain V8TV production
According to this article, FOM TV who are already at Bahrain for the F1 will be "assisting" V8TV in production of the V8s, using "the V8s as a warm-up to the F1 round"
The article isn't very specific, but I'd be interested to find out what the details are. I think the F1 World Feed is unrivaled as a package (they manage to make some otherwise boring F1 races interesting), I wonder what differences we might see with the V8s... |

Speedcafe are reporting that Matty White won't be there either!
Should be a boon for all those who think that he and Baretts should get the flick (assuming Mark is still in Canadia) |

Wild speculation, but I've known this done in other places. FOM lay out all the cables and allow V8 to connect to them for a fee. Cheaper for V8s than laying out and removing their own cabling and FOM get an income stream. It also allows them to make sure everything's working as intended.

For sure. I thought I noticed an absence of lame pit lane "interest" stories last weekend, didn't click that he wasn't there. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Re cabling - well thats far less interesting than I thought. I would have liked to see FOM produced vision. They have a knack for telling a story during the race, and generally showing the right thing at the right time. You can tell the cameramen and producers know motorsport. |

Bringe to think this is why V8s are running on the long circuit too, purely because of the proximity of the F1 date and having to move some of their infrastructure. Still, gives local officials a quick warm-up to next weekend. |

As for taking longer than a week to set up, they've done it before in less than a week, but that's at a circuit where they have been before and know the layout. Saw at Albert Park one year what looked like a pretty detailed site plan in the hands of one of the FOM tech's. |

Remember that FOM is there to telecast the GP2 Asia races, (watched the second race last night) Camera positions are pretty standard at most tracks, when we shoot at PI and Sandown we're in virtually identical positions to V8TV and AVE 'cause it just works out that they're the best spots to be. If there's more than one crew there then it makes sense to co-operate so you're not getting in each others road.
Having said that there was one guy at PI a few years back who decided to stand right in front of me at Siberia because he was from "real television" I managed to convince him that this was not a good idea. |
