If this is the new spec bodywork, then I'd have to say that it's a natural evolution of last year's LM package, namely with adopting the Audi lowered front fender ahead of the fender holes.

Engine cover looks a lot tighter too, roof heights lower and the rims look different too.

They have always had the front fenders lowered ahead of the fender holes:

There is also a video here . The engine sounds quite different. I just wonder if it is not the surroundings that is making it sound so different.

Nope, sounds almost exactly the same to me. Only difference seems to be a bit more turbo whistle and/or transmission whine.

I don't know about the engine cover since the refueling rig obscures most of it.

But the front fender undercuts on the top seem to be a lot deep than last year, like what Audi have adopted.

They also can't really lower the roof because that'd require a new tub design (and re-homologation including crash testing), something that Porsche hasn't adopted and probably won't until their 2018 car.

Sorry to confuse, I don't mean the roof, just the overall height of the fin? Similar to what Toyota have done, just left the mandatory part where the comms are.

The cover seems more slender from the intake area down towards the rear.

It also looks like they've adopted the Toyota rear endplates attached to the cheese wedges.

End plates look like a variation of the 2014/2015 solution.

The front end's underbody exit ducts, on the sides of the car, seems very different to me.

I hope Porsche comes up with far more on the Prologue, though. I have only seem minor evolutions, so far, and I'm quite sure that won't be enough for it to keep up with the competition, this year.

The most important thing is to improve the engine efficiency to claw back the fuel cut. @Spyderman, I posted a comment about the "dimples" on their twitter when they put that pic up! Glad to know I'm not the only one who labelled that detail as "dimples".

Yes, kind of hard to find a better word (although I'm sure there is one that is more appropriate)

Rumors from f1 that Alex Hitzinger will return to RB from Porsche to do an engine for Aston Martin (branded) tie up. Not sure how true that is, but may be why he is leaving.

Makes some sense if true - Would be nice to see that culminate in a Adrian Newey designed Red Bull/ Aston Martin LMP1

Newey / RB have been working with AM road division on a new 'hypercar', with possible hybrid and or pure electric power, so it all sound plausible....

Considering that in 2014 and 2015 season, manthey and PNA 991 shared the same livery with 919 hybrid; as I saw the new 991 livery at daytona, soon I thought that also the 919 was going to adopt the same livery as it seems it will be. Anyway, I still wish that porsche will use the red livery for #1 and black for #2
