Busy at work and back to back races ... Argh.
Still Managed to get it done before Korea.

The Japan Round up

First the Relevant Facts and figures that determine the points…

All 24 Cars qualified within the 107%

There were 4 Grid drop penalties to be applied, Schumacher 10 places for cauing a collision at the previous round. Both Button and Hulkenberg were dropped 5 places for out of sequence Gearbox changes. Vergne was dropped 3 places for blocking in Qually 1. As a result of these, Button remained in the Q3 group and keeps the Q3 Bonus. Hulkenberg drops from Q3 to Q2 with the loss of a Bonus Point. Schumacher and Vergne both dropped from Q2 group to Q1 resulting in the loss of a Bonus Point.

Qualifying bonuses for Constructors having both cars in Q3 go to Lotus, Sauber, McLaren and Red Bull. The Engine supplier bonuses go to Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault for each powering 2 different constructors into Q3.

There was only 1 leader of the race, Vettel. He receives 1 bonus point.

Vettel receives the bonus for leading the most laps, as do Red Bull for Constructor and Renault for Engine supplier.

Fastest lap went to Vettel taking the bonus points for himself, and Red Bull for constructor and Renault for engine supplier.

The top 2 engines from each supplier, powering different constructors are colour coded for easy reference.

Of the five who were classified non finishers; Pic suffered an air pressure issue to the engine and Karthikeyan a technical retirement. Although Grosjean also had a technical retirement, he was classed as a finisher. As a result only Marussia and HRT receive a 5 point Penalty.

Onto the results…

Another race and another new winner, this time it’s Japan Team Warp Speed with 80 points. Redneck Racing was second with 74 points with SBF Racing and Hairy Dog Racing sharing third with 71.

In the Overall, Moral Victor extends the lead from Team AWB, again, now 12 points of a difference (787 – 775). Redneck Racing remains third but has closed right up with 773 points. The top three are now more than 100 points clear of Duke Grand Prix Engineering in 4th place.
