2014 Belgian Grand Prix
Race 12 we head off to Belgium, at one of the most famous tracks on this planet Spa Francorchamps, after a few weeks break to get their heads around there cars and for some teams, their future drivers, it will be interesting to see how the 2 new drivers go in their first outing this weekend. La Source, Eau Rouge, Les Combes, Blanchimont—Spa has plenty of exciting corners that push the drivers to the limit.
With the new cars providing more power and less downforce than in previous years, no one is quite sure what to expect, still looking to see drivers going flat out on Eau Rouge. Mercedes will be the team to beat as always, but with a bit of rain predicted for Saturday’s qualifying, who knows what might happen, it might be Red bull best chance of putting it on Pole if it does. Williams will be looking to strike back with their inferior straight line speed, so expect them to be at the front again, Ferrari’s Alonso will be encouraged to see he is only 16 points behind Ricciardo, not bad for consistency. Venue: Spa-Francorchamps Circuit length: 7.004km/4.352miles Laps: 44 Race distance: 308.052km/191.491miles Lap record: 1min 47.263secs (Sebastian Vettel, 2009) 2013 fastest lap: Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) 1min 50.756secs Number of corners: 19 Tyre compounds to be used: medium/soft |

Proper track, hopefully a decent and entertaining race for the mid field!
Only question is who will win, Nico or Hambo? Where will Williams finish? |

Still - the greatest pass I had ever seen in F1.
One I will never forget. And it was at this track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ymD-W7o9jI |

Cool. Almost verbatim. Love the engineer shaking his head on the pit box.
When you see something like that as its happening its quite the site. More respect for Webber. |

Yeah the Kimi/Michael pass wasn't as spectacular because if I remember correctly, Schumacher was slowing because of a problem on his car.
But the Webber pass on Alonso was incredible, they were still side-by-side heading in! Especially with it being on Alonso who is pretty tough to pass and by Webber, normally not that aggressive. |

So Chilton has now "voluntarily stepped back in" to his seat for this weekend. Shame.

After F1's mini hiatus at least F1 returns to the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, with its unpredictable weather.
As for its unpredicatble weather, does anyone know what the forcast is for Sunday? |

Given that it's unpredictable, the Beeb say it'll be sunny but a bit chilly.
So do the Meteo Group. Maybe, just maybe... it won't rain! (but it might tomorrow) |

after the hype about eau rouge, fairly disappointed to find it's still easily taken flat.

Lotterer has done a very sensible job so far. He's matched Ericsson straight away and has given plenty of feedback.

It's another Mercedes front row, with Nico claiming his 4th pole in a row, at a rather wet Spa, with 2 tenths of a second clear from Lewis.
Good to see Alonso in 4th spot and Button squeezing into the top 10, in 10th. |

With the Mercs two seconds clear. So, who will win the race? For third place, I mean.......

Watching the grid walkabout with David Coulthard, it looks like a rather cold and damp Spa. Hopefully that will mix things up a bit.

Hamilton got the jump on Rosberg, with what was a cleanish start, though it looked like some contact at the back of the field.
