Didn't DC do some Ice Racing at one point.

Some publicity thing perhaps?

On the live broadcast he did indeed look rather lucky. I thought he probably just scrubbed enough speed before leaving the track to retain some steering control. It probably helped that he went off straight and seemed to have qiute a lot of room to play with.

Or maybe the car is heavy enough to create ruts as it goes?

As seems to be the norm, Peter’s incident has resulted in far more publicity for the car than would have been garnered from a trouble free race! Classic Car Weekly not only has their main pic of the GMT first corner, Rover already with two wheels on the grass, but also a photo sequence of the whole painful visit to the tyre wall. BTW Have checked Autosport this morning and no pics in there....

Maybe ‘all publicity is good publicity’ Peter! Sadly it won’t pay for the repairs though.
