Old film and slides of Longford Australian Grand Prix Longford

Hi There,

I am new here, and only recently have i been introduced to historic motor racing by my old mate Graeme.
Graeme for years has been telling me about the old days of motor racing at Longford in Tasmania, including the Formula 1's and finally I have got see his old film footage of those days and some of his hundreds of slides, which for me, really as a non motor sport enthusiast, still find extremely fascinating.
I would like to share with a film we made together and see what you think ,as people, who I am sure, are as passionate about old motor racing as Graeme is.
Enjoy! Andy

Andy,

Way too many people ignore the fact that there are several bodies set up to preserve and perpetuate our historical media...has George done any research in this regard?

http://www.linc.tas.gov.au/

or the National bodies set up for just this porpoise?

http://www.nla.gov.au/

Just saying...OK? Mick

Thanks Mick,

Yes I am well aware of these archives, maybe one day Graeme's legacy will end up there, I will certainly put it to him.

But they are only archives, they do not tell stories. Behind every picture is a story, perhaps several and without them any picture you see without a story could mean nothing or as Graeme says, a distorted story.

But that, of course, is always subjective!

Hi Andy, you may be interested in viewing some of my father's old 8mm footage of Longford, Symmons, Baskerville etc. We even got footage of Gene Cook knocking over the verandah with his Customline!

and one day, may be too late like so many other artefacts that end up in the local land fill...

I believe that some of these institutions can (for example) capture images as a collection for others to enjoy (without retaining the originals)...they also have oral and written history's on their shelves available for those interested...do you have a tape recorder?
