Its a '56/'57 Chevy.

Anyone tried anything similar? i.e. modding an model to make something slightly different?

I mjust admit, I'm not so kmuch of a modeller myself. Yes, I got a few dotted around my study, but apart from the (expensive) desire to collect a model of each winning car at Le Mans since 1986 (I have 1 so far..... ), I just don't have the time to make 'em. Like to look at the pics though......

Nice customs, that '57 Chevy could be done by George Barris on real world.

I'd like to do something with Civics, Golfs, Escorts etc, but I don't think anyone makes them in kit form.

Depends which marks of these cars you are after.
Esci make MK2 Escorts and are quite cheap if you can find one, Tamiya make the Escort Cosworth and WRC, aswell as MK1 Golf (maybe later versions aswell) and different versions of the Civic.

Any good model shop should stock these models, but keep an eye out in places like Toys R Us, you sometimes find unusual kits turn up there, I bought the Esci MK2 Escort - British Airways with clear body work for a couple of quid from one.

My local model shop can order almost anything for me (I'm a sponsored Radio control model car driver for them).

I didn't know Tamiya made the Golf MK1, Ithought they only did MK3-5. The Escort WRC might get a look in too.

Cheers!
