On PE006, so did Jones use this as his primary car for 1990 onwards, or did he alternate between it and the second Lambden VL? It makes sense that he would stick with PE006. In that case, would the #31 Tic-Tac Commodore from Bathurst 1992 be the Lambden VL?
I think you will find that PE 006 was the Tic Tac car, The second Lambden VL (Beaurepairs) became the Ampol Max car, Bob sold the car after he upgraded to the VP ( ex renter car shell) The Ampol Max VL was sold to a club racer by the name of Noel and wound up in the hands of Steve Tate (son of Ian) after Noels passing. It then changed hands to Milton Seferis and once again was sold to Mark the current owner of Larry's 1997 Bathurst winner, Mark sold the VL mid last year to another Melbourne Collector who is now in the process of getting it ready for Historic's.

This shell is not PE 006

I think this must be correct. I recall seeing the ex Tic Tac car on the Gold Coast in 93 or 94....the name Mike Twigden rings a bell here. I remember the car had the trademark Perkins switch tower in it.

were does the (ex renter car shell) story come from groupnxu1?
I was told by Bob that he was doing all the paint work for Advantage and he did a deal on the third car they were building before Dencar had finished it. He then got the shell and built the rest of it.

GrpNXU1, would you presume that the Suharto VN that is now in Mobil colours was actually used by Brock in 1992 in Advantage Racing rather than in 1991? Is that feasible?

I was at Mal Rose's workshop today and checked the Chassis #'s. Mal has PE 20 and PE 21. He also has a Dencar Commodore (ex-Pinnacle) and the last Longhurst EL.

Is the Longhurst EL the ex-Holt/ex-Willmington car?

Since Willmington is still racing it in the TCC, I don't think so!

No it's the ex Jones Komatsu car later raced by Alan Heath and then John Scotcher.

PE021 must be the original Diet Coke car crashed by Morris ( sold to Clive Wiseman and finished up in the hands of Tony Evangelou) as opposed to the repacement Diet Coke chassis (PE024) which was run by the Alcair team for while.

Is this right? Does anyone know where PE024 is these days?

pete60 - you are right - I spoke with ric shaw recently and he told me that PE 024 was destroyed after it was used to get parts for the VS the late Bob Tindal built for him in 2001.

Might have missed something but I thought a Jagparts car in the late 80,s early 90's was a larry perking car.

Vanilla Dice has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Does Perkins Engineering even exist any more? Or does the ex-Mrs Perkins now own it?

They seem destined to become but a memory very very soon...

It seems to be the ex-Beikoff car... which was ex-Perkins... well kinda.. LP's mob built the shell.. not sure if they made all the underpinnings currently in the vehicle...

Scary that based on the noise around at the moment in the press, Vanilla Dice may actually be correct on this one

Alan, well done for digging this one out. A great piece of work by the original poster, Anthony, and an excellent candidate for the Chassis Archive. I have copied it across to there with a couple of posts deleted:-

Some pictures to go with some of the chasss nos. would be good.

TWR VL should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Can anyone tell me where the Perkins chassis numbers were stamped or marked?
I believe I have finally identified the Walkinshaw spec chassis I have as being PE008 only I have found other numbers and markings all over the vehicle and most of the parts that came with it.
I have found numbers on the chassis ranging from:
PE 989008
PE 9.89.008
PER 989008
PER 9.89.008
PE 8
PER 8
08
8
Those sort of markings throughout the vehicle.
Every part is marked in some way.
The problem I have now is not which car it is but which number would have been recorded on the log book with CAMS.
When I called CAMS Keith said to send him all the numbers but if I can find the actual spot for the chassis number then I will know which number Perkins used for the log book.
Can anyone help?
