Deal or no deal? Robby Gordon says he and Yates were close to agreement
By DAVID POOLE
The Charlotte Observer
Robby Gordon said Friday that he thought he had a deal to buy Robert Yates Racing before it fell through two weeks ago.

The deal, Gordon said, is off right now but he also said it has been off and on before.

Gordon also indicated that he could be switching manufacturers with the Cup teams he owns.

β€œI think I could become the No. 2 Ford team relatively quickly,” he said.

β€œIt would take a lot to become the No. 2 Chevrolet team.”

Erki has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Robby Gordon Mt'sport isn't as big as Roush(no1 Ford team). It'd be very had to compete with Roush.

Being number 2 will get you support from the Manufacturers. Robby would not get much support from Chevrolet as he would be competing with HMS, RCR, DEI, JGR, etc for Mfg support.
