I'm sorry for Carroll but, wasn't that a racing incident? I mean, I've seen those kind of silly moves before and no one has never been banned or penalized.
Piquet's move on Carroll was more of the kind you would penalize. |

For forgetting to brake and causing a 5 car pile up? A justfied penalty IMO.
Piquets was silly (and he apologised) but not as bad as that! |

Garcia was a clown at turn one and deserves his punishment.
I saw him steaming into turn one and thought we were going to see a really nasty T-Boning incident. Thankfully, the angle of approach mitigated against this. |

Little tip for drivers in the GP2 series.
When you come to the first corner, press the brake pedal. That makes you SLOW DOWN. So far Yoshimoto has taken out Lauda (no loss there) and Lopez pushed Kovalainen into Lapierre, with Premat being caught up in the mess. Physically pushed, Heikki had a move on Lapierre that would have come off had he suddenly not had an acceleration of 20mph sideways from Lopez' front wing. Heikki continuing somewhere near the back, the others all out. Methinks more race banning is needed. |

And after Alvarez comprehensively took out Pla, Pla rejoined the circuit at slow speed - right in front of an entire gaggle of drivers. Some of the driving is downright criminal.
Lopez has gone back out with new wing, thanks to the asinine decision that one flying lap is better than finishing an entire race in 4th. Bruni currently leading, Jani 2nd holding everyone up - Piquet 3rd, he cannot get a run, but there's about 6 cars together; Jani's defensive driving (which is fair but slow) is giving the increasingly impressive Gimmi a 4 second lead. But shows up one of the flaws in the reverse grid, a good driver held up in the 1st race can get a huge advantage in the 2nd thanks to the genuinely 6th or 7th fastest holding up the genuinely 2nd or 3rd fastest. |

Bruni out - 7 second lead then suddenly slower than a 2CV. 6 car battle for the lead, Jani-Piquet-Rosberg-Piccione-Pantano-Carroll - Clivio tried a move on Nelsinho and lost one to Nico.

OMG, you should be watching this. Piquet tries move on Jani, is squeezed out, sideways, Rosberg & Piccione past. Rosberg passes Jani, overcooks it, drops back to 3rd. Piccione takes lead & is now running away. Piquet tries move on Rosberg and Jani, bumps Nico, Pantano moves up to 3rd, Rosberg 4th, Carroll 5th, Piquet 6th. This is one of the greatest races I have ever seen.

Finally with 3 laps to go Jani's defence runs out & they're all passing him. But the order has shuffled so much it is now Piccione, Carroll, Piquet, Rosberg, Pantano...
For Kirbywatch - he wondered when the leaders would come in for their stop...until Jamie Davies suggested it might be a bad move. Speed on for the fastest lap joke, except he's in the pits & may not make 90%. |

Whew. Some race. Piccione wins, Carroll 2nd, Piquet just beating Rosberg to 3rd.
Something happened to Pantano and he dropped behind Hernandez and Monfardini. According to Kirby, "Scott Sharp" got the 2 points for fastest lap. Is that Ryan Sharp or Scott Speed? Crazy though that doing 1 good lap is worth more than the entire race for someone. For the leading dozen drivers, this is one of the best Championship series going. For all the others, the team-owners should be shot for employing the likes of Artam and Lauda whilst the likes of Kerr are looking for drives. |

kirby is an idiot. im fed up of him calling ryan scott. the least these drivers need id to be called their real names. after all at this stage of motorsport drivers need all the exposure they can get. im sure the IRL star will probably be getting phonecalls congratulating him on his gp2 success......and kirby also gets lapierre mixed up with kovalainen.....
ah well. at least adam carroll got to benefit from silly driving for once instead of getting the bad end of the stick. still some decent overtaking from the portadown lad. SUPERB seeing a podium of 2004 british f3 guys. fantastic win for clivio. he is a decent driver and i knew he would get a few decent results here and there this year despite being up against much better drivers. |

Great stuff was that, shame for Bruni, but the battle for 1st was briljant! Piccione was the smartest and was at the right place at the right time. Great race for Carroll to 2nd!

Fantastic 2nd race! A real shame for Bruni though he was really on the pace in race 2, good for Carroll though and a great 2nd place, once again showing his consistancy.

well i was actually refering to when lapierre was out of his car. the helmet design was clearly lapierres whereas kova was already on the pitwall! i suppose these days its hard to tell the difference between helmet designs but asa commentator he should be able to get that right. a quick look on the gp2 website is all he needs. as for that bruni slowing down caper i was also rather dissapointed in him. it was blatently obvious bruni had slowed yet it took ages for him to spot it. and he is watching the exact same feed as i was.....if only dtm was on every week gp2 was on we wouldnt have him doing the comentating!!! anyway decent race, as always from gp2. |

F1's revamp of its technical specs for 2008 needs to take a look at what GP2 is doing in many ways - single seaters that can overtake.

Im sure that the team owners would rather have someone like Kerr out there ensign14. Why don't you sponsor them??

I don't know that they would..."Lauda" is a name more recognizable than "Kerr". And generates more pub and more money. Alas actually winning races comes 2nd to too many.

its an understandable if annoying tactic of teams to get one top driver and one crap pay driver for that balance of results and cash. cant blame 'em
