On board

Dont know if any of the rest of you have noticed this oddity in the on board shots from Sepang so far. I did notice the same anolay in Melbourne.

Here goes:

As I understand it only Incredibly Nasty Gurning, MACK, Ferrari and Heidhair are running KERS yes?

It seems that this works by simply pressing a button where you like and from the onboard sound the revs simply increase instantly when the button is hit and you almost feel like they have downshifted.

Now I was just watching some onboard stuff from the likes of Rubens, Sutil, Button and a few guys supposedly not running KERS and on every lap just over the finish line in Sepang the engine note changes to a KERS sound if you like.

You hear that instant increase in revs as if the button has been pressed?

Is this some kind of software thing in that the car has to go up a gear for data to be sent? Or is there some reason why teh driver will be up and downshifting after the flag even though he carries on with a lap?

Or is it somehting to do with the sound feed? Coming back into sync or something?

Just sounds very odd and cant quite make out what is happening?
