I marshalled the first two Dubai 24 Hour races and they had a "traffic light" system showing the drivers when fuel pumps were free. The refuelling bay was located just after the last garage in an area adjacent to the paddock.

Woolley I guess you aren't familiar with the Spa 6 Hours? Cars drive through part of the paddock to refuel at the circuit's permanent fuel station! And yes you can sometimes lose several minutes queuing...

It's a brilliant system, as far as I am concerned. The pumps don't all operate at the same rate either, so that needs adding in to your strategy.
Also, there is a fixed price for the fuel which you pay beforehand. This covers practice, qualifying and the race. |
