The law of supply and demand

The Kent 1600 engine will continue to be used in FF1600s for years to come. Ford are not stupid and must realise the investment that people have made and what they can earn from that market.

If there starts to be a problem with blocks then I feel sure FoMoCo will either instigate a run of the odd 10,000 to act as back-up or sanction another firm to do so.

In the mean time the cheapest form of single seater racing continues to thrive - long may it do so!

ford dont really care tbh, they've practically washed their hands with FF1600 all together,

burtons were going to start making new blocks last year, i dunno if anything actually went to production tho.

On steel cranks allowing higher revs - why not a mandatory standard rev limiter?
On FF1600's getting less reliable, I don't believe the major engine components will have a less than infinite fatigue life. It sounds like something environmental is occurring.
ie either better or poorer quality parts loading up a previously reliable component. Also, I heard of problems with crank failures on FF1600's years ago when chassis designers were trying to use the engines semi stressed. Perhaps the chassis loads have gone up with the change from Dunlops to ACB10's or the chassis's are flexing more with age and loading the engine.
