Car is not ugly, but for touring car racing I prefer saloon models (SEAT Toledo, BMW 320 & Alfa 156) instead of hatchbacks like this Leon (or Ford Focus & Honda Civic).

Cars that shape (like the Honda Civic) were never that successful, certainly from the BTCC experience (although built to BTC regs), the Civic's seem to struggle for straightline speed and didn't carry extra weight very well.

I think touringcars should only be saloons.

Problem with that is that hatchbacks outsell saloons now by more than they ever did - and selling cars is why manufacturers go racing.

Yeah, i know But when hatches are already selling, they should give saloon cars more attention towards the public by racing them

fairly close to my mock up a while back
http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66115

Hatches outsale saloons, although I do remember reading that Ford will try a Focus saloon in the WTCC at some point during the season - the rear deck provides cleaner air for the rear wing

Could be worse.

And the paint job seems to fit it better than the Toledo. The WTCC paint scheme has had so many sponsors thrown on it, it's become a bit like a patch-work quilt

I'll wait with the jugdement, till it will hit the track.

But I'm afraid, that it'll look even worse...

Hatchbacks are indeed more populair in Europe so it's logical manufacturers try to race with them. I also have read somewere Ford will try a saloon version of the Focus.

@ Andy: nice car.

I think it'll look better in the plainer BTCC colours of silver & yellow.

Far prefer the Toledo as it's a textbook Touring Car

They also sell a lots of STWs on this segment, so how about them, just look at how some touring car civilian versions look as STW versions:

Accord Tourer

Alfa 156 Sportwagon

BMW 3-series Touring (the new model)

It is a hatchback, because Seat has nothing else to race. What should they race instead? The new Altea (which is a MPV) or the new Toledo (which is not a saloon at all either).

The WTCC should only have saloons and no hatchbacks, they simply look like **** and I dont see them as racing cars.
