Although I wouldn't wish to poo-poo the idea, it does seem strange that after the talks with Red Bull were terminated, it was deemed to be because Aston Martin felt that they were not in a sufficiently good financial position to go further with the deal. Their sales figures continue to decline, and F1 is not the place to make money - just the reverse!

Ugh, I hope this doesn't sink the firm or something horrible like that.
Will Prodrive be involved at all? |

I presume they are just going to more or less rework and rebrand the Mercs?

Sounds like badge engineering to me. I hope it turns out to be more successful than previous Aston F1 project.

According to Motorsport dot com, Bob Fernley thinks that it is somewhat premature to start thinking that AM are coming on board; they have been talking, but nothing concrete has been decided and no contracts signed. These talks are all part of a process that Aston Martin are going through which started with the discussions between themselves and Red Bull earlier this year, and which came to nothing.

i must say i really didnt like the name Force India when they took over the team but they have done a great job over the years and the name has some pride and history behind it now so it has grown on me.
that said i think its a great business decision going forward to look at opportunities at rebranding and even some quotes from Mallya suggesting that he has accomplished what he wanted to with the FI name and is ready to move on if a new partner is found. i know Saward has issues with the guy but as far as billionaire owners of vanity projects go, i have to say i like Mallya and respect what he has (with his money) done with the Silverstone outfit. |

Agreed. Vijay has hired people with racing knowledge and always been a big fan of F1, not just for the money. They've come a long way from being backmarkers in 08

Maybe it is a clever way to get acceptance of Mercedes engines powering Aston Martin badged cars, in advance of the same thing happening to the road cars?

Silverstone 2015.... Their latest Code was updated in 2013, but both Crabbies and ICB have sponsored BTCC entries since then. |

Interesting piece on Daily Sportscar in an interview with Andy Palmer of Aston Martin.
It would appear that an F1 project is unlikely in the short term but never say never. At the moment it would require two things finance and a technology like to the road cars. http://www.dailysportscar.com/2015/1...race-cars.html |

I don't understand the point of Aston Martin being involved with F1 in the first place ??
