Diecast retailers?

Can anyone recommend a good and reliable diecast retailer? Obviously price is important but I also want good information from them; I can't stand the way GPL work, for example, where they advertise a model as available when it's not even shipped to their warehouse yet!

Suggestions?

First piece of information: never use GPL. I'll speak no further, or they will threaten me with a lawsuit again.

Anyways...

The main company I use nowadays is www.trax-models.co.uk. They are ultra fast, reliable and keep you well informed of your particular model tastes by mail newsletters. I like them a lot, only problem is the online order form is a pain to fill out. Small price to pay! They sell most things from handbuilt to your bog standard Minichamps.

Also, www.minichamps.co.uk can be useful.

I occasionally use www.TSF1.com, but not as much as I used to. And obviously it is totally F1 biased unfortunately. They don't keep their release dates up to spec and are quite confusing, though their general delivery service is excellent.

So use Trax!

My very first ever purchase (the 91 Senna 1:18) was from GPL. Never used them since they messed delivery on my second!

I used to see Trax at the circuits and they always seemed pretty good guys. I'll give them a try, thought their website is horrible! Do they respond to email queries?

Yes.

Though I tend to phone them up as they are very knowledgeable and easy to chat to.

Once you peel away the hideous website, you have a great little company.

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I can add to the praise of TRAX. Buy up to 10/15 models a year from them. Reliable service, excellent range of products and good customer support.

I'd sooner deal with someone whose interest lays in the product rather than trying to cover over the cracks with pretty websites, glossy catalogues or expensive stores.

Thanks for the recommendations - I'll definately put some business their way when my bank account has settled down a little
