Race 3 - Norisring (GER), 28th Jun 2009
I'll open a thread, it is the Norising after all.
Zeitplan: Saturday June 27th, 2009 08:15 – 10:45 hrs DTM free practice 13:35 – 14:22 hrs DTM qualifying Sunday June 28th, 2009 09:35 – 10:05 hrs DTM warm up 14:03 hrs DTM start race No placement rates posted but after Lausitz the 09's would be even at 1,050 would they not? Dunno the rest. And how about Touring Car Times for an intro. |

I'm sure Gary and Bruno will fight for the win. Eki is going to be very fast. And Jamie is able to race for the top-3 result. Norisring suits them very well, I think.

How many cars we'll see on finish? 10 or more?
This race will be longer than preivous - 80 laps/184km instead of 72 laps. 6 laps longer - and we have "200 miles of Norisring" again.) |

Why would would they increase the lenght? Maybe because the track is so fast that they fear the race will be to short for the viewers?

Seidlitz will not start because his car is not repaired since that crash at Lausitz. I think, I've read somewhere that Bakkerud to miss the event too. Don't know exactly.

Maro Engel moves up. Trump-like punctuality from Ralf Schumacher.

Oh, they've driven more than 8 laps. So only works in Q4. And front row for Audi...

Hard to imagine.
1. Scheider/GER GWplus/Top Service Audi A4 DTM 49.012 2. Ekström/SWE Red Bull Audi A4 DTM 49.123 3. Spengler/CAN Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Klasse 49.159 4. Paffett/GBR Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Klasse 49.329 So I'm told Gomick. I do like the street circuit. Rain tomorrow? |

Usually we can see 2 2-year old cars, that means that other 2 car of this year can be used as source of spare parts, but this year we have 3 2-year old cars on grid, and problem of spare parts is more difficult.

Winkelhock is reported with a heavy accident in saturday mornings free practice. His car got cut in two pieces by an upcoming cover of a wire channel.
Some marshals as well as Mike Rockenfeller were in severe danger too. Doc Ulrich said that Audi got spare parts from Ingolstadt coming and hopes to rebuild the car for the race tomorrow |

Well, Winkelhocks were always very succesful at Norisring. It's pity that he is to start last (if he will start at all). He likes the track very much,as I know from his interviews.
Besides, drivers are ready for wet race. It's not great. It should be hot at Norisring. It's not Monaco... And that story with 10 laps in Q3. Wasn't Eki fifth at the moment when everybody had driven 8 laps? I couldn't watch the qualification very attentively, and some RSchumacher fans think Mattias shouldn't get into Q4 in any way. |

Thanks for some translation Andy.
I take it Jarvis was caught-out with the changing conditions in Q1? Nice to see Katherine Legge near(er) the front. Now all we need's a Startuafstellung. Quote:

And finally they've taken the results from Q2 for places 5-8. It means Legge will start from the fifth position!
Besides, Di Resta to start from 15 - for the Park Ferme rules violation. If 1977 was the hottest race ever, than 2009 would be the crazyest qualify. And hope,no rain tomorrow! |

Really sad for Ralf though, because he was actually in position 2(!) before he did extra laps on new tires. In any case, Ralf fans should know his position was inherieted by Spengler, Ekström had already qualified in top 4. He was 3rd & Paffet 4th before people starteding doing 9+ laps (and messed up the timing screen). |
