Forsythe Team Poll

In light of the news that Forsythe will run a four car "Super Team" in Atlantics this year, how many cars do you think he will run in Champ Car?

Two.
And he probably won't even have sponsorship for them as it is.

Two. One for Tracy, and the other likely for Dominguez, or a ride buyer.

I also believe that there is a slim chance that Andrew Ranger could land a ride here. I remember that Neil Micklewright was enthralled with him after his Forsythe test last preseason and tried to get Forsythe to fund his ride. I'm not certain that Gerry would gamble on him this season.

2, would love to see 4 but 2's most likely.

My guess: two, for Tracy and Dominguez. Both will be gone in 2007.

Actually I would not be too surprised if Forsythe Racing as we know it changes quite significantly in the future. But that's pure speculation. Gerry's passion for racing doesn't seem to be much in evidence, does it? And it has been like this for a couple of years already. I first thought that that was due to the withdrawal of Player's - something that we all saw coming with a seven-year notice but which consequences Forsythe somehow failed to properly mitigate (and then went into a childish rant against the Canadian government). Later on Forythe formed OWRS together with Gentilozzi and Kalkhoven - but the latter completely outshone the other two. Will Forsythe continue to be involved with racing? Or are we going to see the team changing hands? A takeover by a consortium led by Micklewright and Tracy (*) - just like the Pétit-Kallhoven-Vasser combo at PKV - would be a possibility...

(*): I know, Tracy may be too hot-minded and outspoken to make a steady businessman - but why not? If Michael Andretti can be a team boss, Paul can be one too. Paul's intellectual span is much broader than Michael, I am confident!

You guys obviously know better about the Forsythe situation but aren't you positively surprised at the team signing four drivers for Atlantics? I mean not all of the juniors have money (I suppose Maia doesn't have any) so either the team found sponsorship or they are investing heavily. Why wouldn't the same apply to their Champ Car team?

Muzza, I think your speculation on Micklewright taking over in the long term is spot on. The Atlantic program may be his last preperatory step.

As for Forsythe in 2006, I'm predicting three cars. Tracy, Dominguez, and a seat for Andrew Ranger. This would answer why Conquest has been testing other drivers, and would provide a replacement for Tracy when he retires/departs.

I would be surprised if he ran more than two cars.

As for that other stuff, I don't know... Forsythe is in too deep to just pack up his bags. IMO he has always been a bit of an odd character.

I wish he ran 4, but I think it will be status quo and 2 for PT and Mario...

I'll say 2 but I live in hope that Forsythe will be able to expand to a 4 car team, with Tracy, Dominguez, Ranger & possibly Verstappen (there were loads of rumours about him last year & he would bring a lot to the series). However, if Forsyhte expands to more than 2 cars I would want to see at least Newman/Haas & PKV also expand to at least 3 cars (which there is a big chance that they may do this year). At least the overall health of champ cars is looking good!
