Gt_R should be qualifying in the top 5 on the gridGt_R should be qualifying in the top 5 on the grid
From Formula1.com
At approximately 11.30am local time at the Barcelona circuit, Luca Badoer had a major accident while testing for Ferrari. Badoer was removed from the car and was conscious, but complaining of neck pains. He was helicoptered to the Sant Cugat Hospital and the circuit was closed. There is no further news regarding his condition.
Only 100 yards before the corner Badoer was running flat out. Before impact he appeared to have lost a rear wheel. When he went into the gravel the missing wheel caused the car to dig in, and the car somersaulted and went over the tyre barrier.

The Ferrari was the 2000 model running the new 2001 aerodynamics package. The team are currently analysing the incident with a view to deciding whether to bring the testing session to a halt. It was planned that Michael Schumacher would take to the wheel on Tuesday.

Could anyone give an idea of what could be a cause? Or any idea how he is now? There seems to be a tendency for cars to flip nowadays...We have seen it in Pedro Diniz crash at Nurb'99, Pedro De La Rosa in Monza 2000, Fisi, and now in Badoer...is there a fundamental fault somewhere in the cars structure?

From AtlasF1: "Initial reports from the Sant Cugat Hospital said Badoer was only slightly injured, however no further details were given."

So it appears he'll be OK.

Don't know if this is real or not, as I found it at http://www.AlphaF1.com on the forums there. By the way, it has been confirmed that Badoer is OK, and is just resting in hospital, which obviously, is good news

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing
From the report that the missing wheel caused the car to dig in, would it not be better if the runoff areas were paved with bitumen instead if filled with gravel? There would be less likelyhood of cars digging in and turning over, and cars can still brake very effectively (with ABS) when they run off the track.

LYM should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I read it's a loose rear wheel that had caused the spin, so human error huh?

I was just wondering, if it was the racing driver in the car(RB or MS), would the mechanics have prepared the car more cautiously and checked more thoroughly?

BTW, Luca has discharged from the hospital. God bless him.

Rest assure that the cars were carefully taken care of by the mechanics in Ferrari, no matter if MS or Luca is driving...i do not think they would want to hurt their fellow country mate...

Moreover, Jaguar/Irvine had a failure and crash...BAR/Jacques had a failure and crash, why don't we question the mechanics in those teams' professionalism?
