Mark Miles said there was a Plan B for a venue in the North East. You should direct your questions to him.

Losing Boston as a non-starter shouldn't come as a great shock. Indycar has a long tradition of "duds," and "one-and-dones," it's part of their high risk low reward business plan. NOLA, China, Brazil, and Baltimore come to mind. The loss of Milwaukee and other traditional venues just adds to the list. When was the last time you heard somebody brag on TV that they became rich from Indycar? For most it's a business expense/tax write-off. For International Speedway Corporation to come to the rescue of Indycar by offering up Watkins Glen would seem remote. The Indycar event at Phoenix showed a thawing in what has been a rather chilly relationship; but why would ISC want to bail out Indycar? The risk is too high and the reward is problematic, at best!

This statement is so random. No one gets into the racing business to make money. People are involved in motorsport because they enjoy it.

Has there been any muttering about reinstating the Toronto double-header?

I'm making this up as I've heard nothing to suggest this. But maybe?

Regardless of what actually happens, and if we get Watkins Glen, or wherever, as a replacement, I want someone to do a proper job of putting the Boston circuit into rFactor or some such game/simulation.

Also, it would be hard for anybody to do bad enough to have a race come out more painfully than yesterday's edition of bumper cars at Talladega (jeez...).

Purist : I would have to disagree with your last comment " Painfull " I think NOT

To me it was one of the better races at "DEGA" I say this from the point of Stragety . and WHO had bigger BALLS . You really have to appreciate running 4 wide at those speeds !! It was quite obvious that more than a few " Better Drivers " made some BAD DECISIONS in the race . I know the drivers HAVE TO depend on the spotters and crew chiefs call to put the whole deal together but I just look at it as being more of a mental race than a Physical race .

When was the last time we saw INDY cars running 3 wide for more than a lap ?

Las Vegas in 2011, and we KNOW how that ended. (We could also see the end coming, in that case, from a LONG way off. Sorry, but pack racing in this type of car, at anything like the speeds they run, is simply, stupidly, suicidal.)

Pocono 2014 was quite good, and the recent Indy 500s have been very enjoyable as well. Fontana needs a better date, cooler weather, and just slightly more separation between cars compared to 2015. On the other hand, Texas could use the cars being pinned down just a bit more so they can more readily run together.

There's talk of either Gateway or Watkins Glen replacing Boston.

Milwaukee does NOT have a promoter.

I'm fine waiting for them to get Gateway slotted in for next year. With Road America already coming in after a long absence, I would LOVE to see Watkins Glen join the calendar as well, especially with how much I think we can expect the DW12 to improve the racing at the Glen, which was already decent, above and beyond the old Dallara.

As for the officials and whiners blocking the Boston track in rFactor, I'll just set the pace vehicle to a Lamborghini LM002, and there won't be a problem.

You do know that the LM002 is NOT a sports car, correct?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gceB...o&spfreload=10

Well, with Road America and Watkins Glen, suddenly, the Indy Roval would only be the third-fastest road course in IndyCar, and by some margin.

Yes, I do.

I was more alluding to the recent explosion of Ford Mustang meme's onthe internet cos the Mustang seems to be the car of choice for running into crowds of people leaving car events.

Or doing dumb **** that leads to dumb accidents.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is not technically a permanent circuit, and only has the two potential event weekends a year. It's probably too short a notice at this point to try and requisition it.

And then there's Bernie...

Though ChampCar did run there in 2002-06.

EDIT: The latest out of AutoWeek seems to be a rather clear lean toward Watkins Glen. IndyCar and WGI are in daily communication, and with the repave at the Glen, among other things, I'm sure, the Series thinks that track is more up to the task of pulling off the event this year.

What? Mark Miles has been traveling to China this week instead of working with Gateway and/or Watkins Glen on a replacement race for early September?

http://www.motorsport.com/indycar/ne...-china-734899/

Does this mean these no-show events that are called off at the last or semi-last minute make money for IndyCar after all?
