I've been told the Birkett is mental and I have to do it. So yeah, why not!

It's one of my favourite meetings of the year. But unfortunately not this year due to a clashing commitment.

Continuous stream of cars .... on the GP circuit. Seriously, aside from the first few laps after start or SC, see how many times you actually have no cars visible in your sector..... (not at all many).

Yes sign on in bar.

main change this year is start is behind safety car. Similar to a rolling start but instead of green flag we all show sc and yellows. Ensures singke file start.

You guys sure had a busy day. I added 2 breakdown recoveries to your workload (the proverbial 10p item failure, blown fuse) and another breakdown where I managed to coast into the pits then you pushed me half way up the pits to out garage.

A big thank you as ever from me and to the recovery teams who probably had the busiest day ever.

We like the odd few cars coasting into the pits looking for a push - it gives us something to do!

Seriously, though, thanks for the post - we appreciate the thought

Cheers

A big thank you to all you orange people for your hard work, efficiency, courtesy and good humour throughout the day. Even the ones with aching arms from protracted yellow flag waving!

And a special thanks to the guy who spotted an electrical malfunction on one of our team cars. You saved us at least a lap!

You people take a lot of the credit for making the Birkett into such a wonderful, enjoyable and successful event.

Another big thumbs up from me for all the folk in orange, plus the medical teams which sadly were needed. Not raced it before so it was a bit of an eye-opener.

Just a quick thanks to you guys in Orange. Sadly I needed Your assistance halfway down Hangar straight, when I ended up in the middle of the track minus part of the car...

the car swapped ends in a straight line, looking at the video it looks like it must have spun up going over a damper part of the track, there is a dark patch just before the cars spins and the rev counter jumps.

It took a fair bit of effort to push the car off the circuit, due to wheels not pointing in the same direction and then the muddy grass didnt help.

Thanks also for moving the car a bit closer to the wall during the brief gap in sessions so nobody else hit it !!! nothing worse than standing on the bank with a mullered car hoping no body else hits it..

I did wander over to the med center and they gave me a good going over and some pain killers, all fine apart from a bit of soft tissue damage to the right shoulder.

watching the rest of the race looks like you guys were kept busy!

Thanks for everything remember if it wasnt for marshals and racers we'd all be at home doing DIY!!!!

quick link to the video if you want a laugh !!!

Just watched the Video Graham !you were really unlucky it seems Silverstone seems to hold water like a sponge. Hope you and the car were not to badly damaged.

Graham,

It could be you just dropped the right rear over the white line on the outside of the track which would probably have been enough in a powerful RWD car to spear it off left.

Similar to this video :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p8iv_H-ZSM

Although there was also a poor h&t downshift involved. I wasn't going to bother posting that but struck me how much the main straight has changed at Silverstone in the last few years!
