Hamillton, Rosberg, Kovy, Glock and Hulk have all been at the least good F1 drivers, one of them is a world champion.

I see no reason from what i've seen or heard about Perez in his career to date to think that he won't be the next truly excellent GP2 graduate.

If he performs he could be Bianchi's teammate at Ferrari in 2-3 years, or maybe they'll be competing for the same drive!
Lucas Di Grassi is absolutely a backmarker.

Err, his car is yes but i'd be willing to put money on him doing a good job in a half decent car!

Interesting choices. You're selecting 2 drivers Matador, one of which was totally thrown in at the deep end and is markedly better than those few outings allowed him to show, whilst the other is one of those unfortunate rarities where lower ladder superstardom fails to translate into F1 success.

The majority of GP2 garduates have proved their ability or are in the process of developing their skills further in F1.

It is possible to be good and then get better.

GP2 grads who have genuinely impressed;

-Lewis
-Nico 1
-Nico 2
-Timo

That's about it from recent memory, so that'd make the argument pretty even I'd say. The rest of the bunch have been either un-impressive or borderline rubbish.

Lewis was thrown in at the VERY deep end, so that really is no excuse.

Conversely, I see guys like Kimi, Kubica & Vettel even if you really think about it, turn out to be really good drivers, without being supersstars in GP2 or really any of the Junior series (although the admittedly did well the short time they were there - F3 etc.).

So, all I have to say to your supposition, ********. Lets see Checo put his mettle where his money is. I'd be the first to welcome him if he impresses, as a successor to los hermanos Rodriguez is long overdue. I'd probably never be able to bear my friends from Mexico if he did too well, but whatever.

I think you're putting too much faith in him. He's been miles off Glock's pace. Hell, even Senna's been off of Yamamoto's pace.

Fair enough but Glock is one of the best drivers currently not in a top line car so it's no disgrace for Di Grassi to be beaten by him.

Lucas isn't necessarily thought of as an out and out ace but is certainly no mug either. He's not done terribly this season considering the appalling amount of car failures he's suffered.

I think Perez is fortunate to get a solid seat for his debut season. I expect his season will feature a fair few shunts, but he won't be slow and he will keep getting better as time goes by.

Nothing, but when people have pretty much run out of things to say about the main topic, they wander off in other directions. It happens all the time.

Everything's been said until we see him turn a wheel in a Formula One car.
