2010 WTCC goes to Zolder

http://www.autosport.nl/news/18229/w...ar_zolder.html

As mentioned in the Brno-race thead: in 2010 the races in Pau are replaced by rounds in Zolder, Belgium. Good news for me, I'll probably be there to watch.
The races in Pau may be cancelled due to a new citycouncel that is less race-minded. Also, the WTCC-promotors do not like the poor facilities to much.

IIRC Zolder was already in the cards. There are also plans for a race in Russia. If so, which circuit do you think have to go?
It will be interesting to see if Seat Belgium will again fund a car for PY Corthals. This year they do not fund a WTCC-drive for him, but they still work together in the Belgian Touringcar Series, PY driving a Leon Supercopa over here.

That is if the WTCC still exists next year offcourse....

Going to belgium could be good for the WTCC Because going to Zolder could open the WTCC to more viewers, also is there any S2000 Cars in the Belgian Touringcar Series that could be local entries?

There is one team that drives a BMW S2000-car, but fitted with an M3-engine. They may be able to rent a S2000-engine for the WTCC-races. Having said that, I don't think that is very likely. If anything, I hope for maybe a second RBM-car for a good Belgian or Dutch driver (Duncan Huisman?), and as mentioned a Seat for Corthals.
Maybe Vincent Rademecker can get his hands on a Maurer-Chevy. He has the contacts, and Maurer, who normally drive the German Procar-series, have some WTCC-experience.
Last posible extra entry: Nykaer. He wants to do a few WTCC-races next year, and if Zolder does not clash with a Danish round, it is a logical choise for him, as it is after Oschersleben the closest to Denmark.

That would be a tragedy

This should be more about Pau not hosting races than Zolder hosting races

Not completely. With or without the Pau citycounsel standing behind the races, the WTCC was doubting about racing in Pau anyway.

Having said that, it would indeed be a shame if there were no more races at the classic track in the streets of Pau.

Pau off the calendar? WOOHOO! Best news this year. The more tram race tracks replaced by proper tracks where passing is possible, the happier I will be.

Worst news of the year! The more boring autodromes are closed and replaced by city centre circuits the happier I will be.

Ha, the WTCC can't ever do it right with you guys :-) . I guess we either have to built autodromes in citycenters or built city's at circuits. Both options won't be very easy to arrange I'm afraid.

We should move all races to Mexico City, there we should have both the Autodrome and the CityCentre atmosphere

So you think it's exiting when passing is impossible and everybody finishes in qualifying order?

But how spectacular the overtaking maneuvres are, even if there's less of them Some track circuits should stay, Pau is between them And barriers are less dangerous there, than the Safety Car

Coronel overtaking Porteiro at the outside at the hairpin _0_

And I remember a few nice moves into the railstation bend as well, from Priaulx among others iirc.
