Thanks for the suggestions. We bought the card in NZ and it worked ok for a while but now all we get is a request to format it, which obviously we haven't. There's a local guy I'll take it to for an opinion before we try anything else.

Was the first format in camera?

Does it now not want to work in anything at all? Not even the camera?

If so you almost certainly need some sort of deep recovery software of the type the card manufacturers offer.

Is it a "known" brand? (Or at least in theory a "known brand".)

The SD card is now at the doctor's, so in the meantime here's a few more phone shots. Re the problem with the card, apparently this usually happens when deleting several pics in quick succession (which confuses it) or switching off while the camera is still processing a photo, take care!

1. We had 5 Gemini Mk2's on track together, perhaps the most ever? A variety of nose jobs were on display including my own dimpled example.

2. The FJ marquee at Timaru. Accommodation at the other 4 circuits was a great improvement on Hampton Downs, thank goodness!

3, 4 & 5. I loved these Grand Prix Specials. Built in the style of pre-war cars, and using mainly period components, they looked and sounded great on track, especially the one with a large Lycoming lump up front!

6. Lots of Brit metal (and plastic) in evidence including some rarely seen back home.

Nice photos Colin.

Who needs a dedicated camera when you have a decent one in a phone?

Re the card - switching off when processing is always a bad idea I suspect.

I can't comment on deleting - I rarely do on the card. When full and images have been transferred to other places I may reformat the card although often only when I really need to use it again.

I did have a CF card once that induced error reports for the camera.

After a diagnosis of new part required in camera and a costly fix ... the problem persisted.

Turned out to be a dodgy card. Swapped for a new one by the manufacturer's UK representative and it has worked ever since.

It would stop working and become unreadable quite randomly at about 80% full or thereabouts. Sometimes.

That's when I learned about Recovery software!

I hope the doctor is successful with your card.

No luck with the card so it's now gone off to another fixer who claims a 75% success rate - not holding my breath!

Meanwhile here's a link to the official vid from the Skope Classic at Ruapuna, something here for everyone I think and gives a good flavour of the historic scene in NZ. Professional production too:

Disappointingly, nothing retrieved from card. Will just have to go again and fill in the gaps

Colin,

Are you heading to Donington for the FJ Fest in a couple of weeks?

If so bring the card with you.

I doubt that after 2 attempts a third will make any difference but you never know and I have a few programs I can try out.

If there is a physical problem in the card it's unlikely to be usable and I assume that the two attempts so far have not been able to read anything at all?

It would be interesting to know if it is a "genuine" card or a lookalike. There are, apparently, a lot of fakes around.

Hi Grant, thanks for the offer - container offloading tomorrow and several jobs to co-ordinate in different parts of the country, all of which need the car to be present so can't be done simultaneously so Donington will be touch and go.

We did finally get some pics off the card so not all lost, but unless you want waterfalls, mountains, lakes and blurry penguins.......

Ah, well, if you are passing as you drive around the country let me know and bring the card.

If there is something retrievable on the card at least it is partly working so having another dig with a few more tools may not be a total waste of time.

Either way I hope all this jet set coordination F1-like stuff falls into place and you can join the FJ throng at Donington on 28th.
