BMW Z4 race version
BMW Motorsport has shown this race version of the new BMW Z4 coupe to a limited crowd: http://www.autovisie.nl/redactioneel...ever/index.xml
It is supposed to have a 400 hp version of the old M3 engine (3.2 liter 6 in line). What class will it race in? GT2 to replace the ALMS BMW M3 GT2S? Or GT3? Maybe 24 hours of Nurburgring. |

It's developed with the Nordschleife in mind, while also Belcar was mentioned.

One will race in the ALMS at some point this year. (GT2)
What looked graceful as a road car, somehow looks awkward as a race car. |

Hmm, wouldn't this car be a good one for the FIAGT3?

I think this is the car that PTG is going to use in the ALMS. I hope somebody runs it in FIA GT, too.

its erm.....different! but any new car on the grid, regardless of appearance is a good thing, especially if its a works car. Lets just hope theres not as much controversy as with the M3 V8.

I for one think the car looks fantastic, somewhat in the same manner as the old Marcos LM600.

I'd agree with that. It's OK. I'm not completely turned off by it, but it wont look pretty next to a 430.

400bhp - thats about right for the FIA GT3 championship. Maybe we will see the car in the series at some point.

It is different looking. It looks as if the rear wheel arch is higher then the rear deck lid. I like it.

Looks kinda like I thought.
I'am not a big fan of the Z4 to begin with, but this thing is kinda the same. |

I like it. I can't seem to find the fault with the new BMW styling that many people seem to. Guess I'm just stupid. It reminds me of the old Cheetah race car.

Wouldn't say its a stunner but it certainly looks meaty, with that engine it will sound manic too.

Looking at it gives me stomach twinges, and not in the good way either...
Honestly every new BMW with the possible exception of the 6-series on Thursdays and alternating Tuesday afternoons invokes nausea in me. Ick...burn the styling department to the ground, vapourize the first 3 inches of foundation and start anew, then I will be more satisfied. |

Some pictures for the Duller Motorsport BMW Z4 M Coupe at the 24 hour Spa test day: http://www.projectlemans.de/content/view/2147/53/. The driver lineup is Bouvy/Duez/Werner/Quester.
In the morning session the car only did 8 laps, the fastest being 2:33.938. |

I like the new BMW styling (mostly) - I actually quite like the Z4 (although I also liked the old 2.8l Z3 too), and this car looks really well put together (esp in red bull colours) - i just don't quite like the way it looks.

But if BMW build a special Z4 series with the new 4l V8 engine from the new BMW M3 then they have a good GT2 package |
