Silly idea. No one down here has the money for that. That was one of the main contributors to NC dropping off in the first place.

As Nations Cup showed, its great in theory but not so good when put into practice.

I think moving to Cup Class for 2005 is a great move and we can see the championship begin to rebuild itself, much the way WSBK and Champcar have in 2004.

In response to the man, Carrera Cup cars aren't elibible, well they were in 2004 untill (Cup Car) officials, no doubt under instructions of Avesco cried blue murder. But be that as it may, Carrera Cup cars are to fast for Cup Class, giving them an unfair advantage.

Cup Class is far more than just Ferrari's and GT3's. I have compiled a short list of available vehicles, if I have missed any, add them in.

Ferrari 360/430 Challenege
Porsche GT3 Clubsport
Maserati Trofeo
Morgan Speed 8
Lamborghini Gallardo
Dodge Viper
BMW Z3 Roadster
Chevolet Corvette
Noble M12
Ford Mustang
Holden Monaro
TVR Chimera
Jaguar
Lotus
A good list but still wouldn't the Lambo be ahead of the field by a fair amount with the viper?

Nup. There are numerous Dodge Viper and Lamborghini Cup Class vehicles out there to compete. Cup Class isnt allowed any of the freedoms in which Greg Crick or Dacry Russels Viper have allowed. Think Geoff Morgans Monster.com Viper in 2001. Very legal and very exciting.

TLA team manager Andrew SMith I believe has outlined that his team would look at running a Gallardo in the series.

They should be... I wonder if they're allowed to compete next year?

Ric Shaw told me that he is not allowed to run an RX7 in '05 because they are too old.

Let's hope not.

My question is where does PROCAR stand now? A lot of people are throwing around a lot of ideas, some good, some bad, but has anyone stepped up to the plate with the cash to make the series(all inclusive) happen for next year?

This is true so Ric is unsure of his ride in 2005 if the catergory takes off maybe Mazda might get serious with the just announced AWD turbo Mazda 6 coming here in May 05 190-205Kw 2.3ltr 4cyl.......as the RX8 would be too slow unless the beast at the Motor Show RX8 SP gets the green light.

Why did PROCAR put it's much hard won TV time up against the bathurst 1000, was there a plan there or didn't anyone realise the clash in dates would be the chance to ensure that the least amount of people would watch it.
Surelly that could have been avoided, unless 7 were looking for some sausage fill for a slot they thought was a goner and didn't want to re run aan Elvis movie again,Hmmm

Really dumb

The rights to the "Procar" categories are in CAMS' hands. Surely things are in safe hands there.

Most of the categories are looking to take control of their own destinies by forming category management teams. WHich I believe is a very good idea.

Brutes to Avesco by the looks (sadly)
GT Performance to Premier
APCC to premier with GTP
Nations Cup GT/Sports under JT on a new bill to bre formed.
F3, havent heard anything as yet

"CAMS close to resolution on production-based racing category rights."

Link http://www.cams.com.au

Osborne is quoted as saying that production based racing in 2005 looks very positive.

Great news, I look foward to some healthy announcements

They will want to be good options or CAMS sink even lower in my eyes.

I believe the category management rights for the Production Cars is close to being settled. Healthy support for the class from competitors means the future of this category is fairly certain. They certainly have setup a good management structure for their racing.

It's entirely possible that the categories we know and love could be racing together again at certain rounds. Not necessarily as Procar, but with all the familiar faces and cars.....I'm looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, a former brand from this series in Eagle Boys' Pizza has collapsed into voluntary administration Here

Mr Palmer was apparently an angel investor in this set up before its prime..
