Now for the two latecomers...

I did not allow Bootsontheside into the picks in an earlier race, because having access to practice speeds, etc. would give boots an advantage.

Apparently Captain Crunch and Alwaysfirst both had unusual circumstances that kept them from hitting the deadline due to internet issues.

I'd like for the other competitors to e-mail me about this to share your thoughts....I'm open to a lot os different potential solutions to this, so share your ideas with me

Of course, they couldn't do anything about the internet issues that prevented them from getting to the forum to enter, but it still doesn't change the possible advantage that it could give them in their picks.

I'll delay posting Qualifying results until I get some forum feedback...

Thanks!

Possible Qualifications Scenario:

It is apparently rainging hard over in Japan right now (at 4:45 a.m.) and they have a 100% change of rain today...Hopeully, this weather system will move out in time to run the race on Saturday.

However, this bleak forecast will impact our qualifying picks.

If they can't qualify today, however the IRL sets the grid will determine our picks.

For speeds, since I won't have a 4-lap average, I will take the fastest Practice Lap recorded and will award it to the Pole Sitter (even if he/she did not turn that lap) for BOTH the 4-lap avg. and the fast Lap speeds. However, if someone picked the driver who DID set the speed i'll use for this but is not on the pole the Pole, I'll give you 1 pt.

Example: If they do it by season points and Helio is on the Pole, but they do not practice at all today, Kanaan would have the fast speed from yesterday's practice.

All Helio picks for pole get two pts. If you picked Kanaan for pole, you'll get 1 pt., since technically, he set the fastest speed recorded and under any other circumstance would have been on the pole. If you had Kanaan also for Fast Lap, you would get those 2 pts., because he did set the fastest lap so far for this weekend thus far.

Make sense?

I'll do the same thing for slowest speed as well from the practice charts.

Just covering the "What Ifs" in case it happens.

Well...It is raining buckets at Motegi, thus they canceled both practice and qualifying today.

The field will line up by season points and the scenario I just spelled out above will apply.

Weigh in via PM on how you want me to decide the fate of the late picks...I want to tally this and make it happen.

Thanks!

A couple of competitors pointed out to me that captain crunch's picks were in before practice actually started, so his will count. Alwaysfirst's picks were not and will not count.

For the Pole, drewdawg and ProRacer both picked Helio for 2 pts. each, and drdisque, OpenWheel The Penguin, Mattcat, and RedBulldog had Kanaan (who would have had the fastest speed for the pole from practice) for 1 pt. each.

drdisque was closest to the Pole speed - Speed Scored - 200.842 dr - 203.820

The penguin and drewdawg both had Kanaan for teh fast lap for 2 pts.

Dreewdawg also was closest to the speed - Speed Score - 200.842 drew - 203.512 for 2 pts.

With driver & speed pts., drew also gets 2 bonus pts.

in the Top Six, drew had 8 pts. with all six and 2 correct, Proracer had 7 pts with 2 correct, Mattcat, peno and ThePenguin had 6 pts. each, Daisy & redBulldog had5 pts., drdisque, captaincrunch and NAC had 4 pts. eachand OpenWheel had 3 pts.

drdisque, ThePenguin, Peno drewdawg and ProRacer had Yasukawa as the slowest for 2 pts. each

Mattcat was closest to the slow speed - Speed Scored - 190.571 mattcat - 198.006

on the "just Miss," drewdawg had Carpenter for 2 pts. and drdisque, OpenWheel, Thepenguin, ProRacer, and Mattcat had drivers in the Top Six for 1 pt each.

After Qualifying, the results are:

1. drewdawg - 20 pts.
2. ThePenguin - 12 pts.
(tie) ProRacer - 12 pts.
4. drdisque - 10 pts.
(tie) Mattcat - 10 pts.
6. Peno - 8 pts.
7. RedBulldog - 6 pts.
8. OpenWheel - 5 pts.
(tie) Daisy - 5 pts.
10 NAC- 4 pts.
11. captainCrunch - 4 pts.

Good Luck on Saturday in Japan!
