yep as Pete said Ive bought a saxo that has been used for doing quarter mile racing, has a decent motor so should be quick enough in a straight line but the way it drives at the mo the corners would be interesting so there is still a fair bit to do but will be ready for Knockhill, not sure it will be on the pace for a while or I will either for that matter, never driven a tintop on track before so will need to try and get in a couple of test days.

Sounds awesome! Is it full of gauge pods?

I'll be heading up to Knockhill at some point in April so if you fancy joining me give me a shout. I'm not far from you anyway.

If you need with anything, geometry setup etc just give me a shout. Happy to help.

To my knowledge the only treaded Miglia Dunlop is in a wet compound (with a rain tread pattern) and would be hard pressed to survive a dry race. Unless anyone knows differently?

Robert Morris has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

I think you are correct we used a dunlop special road tyre when we was historic rallying before we went over to the avon.
From past experiance a mig wet used on a dry track will last about 5 miles before its wrecked.
Of coarse they could mean a mini 7 tyre?

the dunlop 160x490x10 slick will be used uncut for class D for miglia spec minis .the class record for class D is 1.34 set in 2004 by david person i dout any mini or other type of car will be beating this in the near future

I wonder if the track runs slower now than it did back then as compared to the times run last year thats a good 3 seconds faster, were there other cars back then running similar times or was that a one off?

1.34 is a quick time but especially in a 1600 tintop on 1b tyres! from what the times have been this year you would need to take a short cut to get down to those type of times!

what car was he driving ?

Think it was a fiesta.
Ive been asking the DDMC for the past year to allow new Mini Cooper S to be allowed in 1600 class to no avail. Just to try bring newer affordable cars to the championship. As long as they ran to Mini Challenge regs then they would be a good match up for regular cars. And can be bought for 8k! I know they are supercharged which means its up against cars way too far out of reach. They weigh 1280kg with only 200bhp and lap times on new slicks in qually are 37's, so would be a great match up...........
But I didnt get much support for it.........

Think his lap record is actually a 1.35.670 back in 2001 according to here which is still ballistic!

Not sure if its a freak or dodgy lap, lap times from that race:

Lap 1: 1.41.950
Lap 2: 1.35.670
Lap 3: 1.37.130
Lap 4: 1.37.690
Lap 5: 1.49.850
Lap 6: 1.41.870
Lap 7: 1.41.960
Lap 8: 1.41.280
Lap 9: 1.41.950
Etc etc

That car was quick mind, and I suspect a 1.35 is definitly do-able in a class D with the right car / driver combination. Does anyone know if the car is still around, I know Darren Flounders had it, where is it now?

Could be right Andy, dont think that thing is exactly up to date, doesn't even have my cadwell lap record on which is scandalous!

If Swalesy bought it then I think thats what Michael Stanley has now, could be wrong though.

DDMC website is hopefully getting updated, noticed the NSSCC link has just dissapeared and 2011 is now in 'previous years'.

Peter, Darren still has the car, yes Dave is a good driver & the car is a 1.37 car ie very similar performance to my fiesta (on its best day)
1.35 ??? was he using the short cut ??? or freak time issue ???
No 1600 can suddenly pick up almost 2 sec per lap
The only time I ever raced Dave was in 2006 last race of the season, (when the car was set up for Darren) think I was 9th on grid & he was 8th in the dry, then it rained for the race, after a few corners, he was overall race leader with me 2nd, right on him, passed him on 2nd lap, then lead for most of the race until stuart whites escort cossy who'd started last passed me.
2nd overall with a good turn out for the DDMC end of season bash, not bad for a 1600 !!
Ill never forget that race.
Darren fiesta's was/is pretty much identical engine/performance to mine & no way would my car do a 1.35

Sorry Andy we have been saying all along that it will be a cut version of the Miglia regs tyre and that this will only apply to full spec Miglia cars, it appears now that we may have two Miglia competitors. Clinton did say that he does approx 1:42's at Croft.
Yes the web site is being updated but we have not heard from the MSA so unfortunately we are unable to publish the regs tonight.

I was sure Darren told me he'd sold it when he bought that Mk 3 fiesta off Tony Caig??? My memory is crap though.

Are you gonna stick some tyre's on that fez and come give us a lesson next year Andy? Never mind this V8 falcon rubbish Have a feeling Class D is going to be very well subscribed next year, could be good un!

I reckon you would be doing 1.35s if you spent a few quid on that shed of yours Peter!

Pretty sure my car would be easily capable of 1.35s round Croft, maybe even 1.34s but certainly not with me driving it! I'll be happy if I can get down to 1.40s this year.

If they do another allcomers race like the Sept meet last year I may stick someone good in the car to see what it's really capable of.

I do not know who your informant has been speaking to but I believe you will find that a straight slick will no be allowed but a cut tyre to Miglia spec is what will be the tyre to be used. This is as long as the MSA do not allow the regulation altogether!

That sounds like sand bagging to me! Be good to see you out, you were doing the same times on some decent rubber so could be close next year. Cant wait, shame about Jason mind, not looking like he'll be out.
