Pro Racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2008 driver/team/sponsor movements??? (merged x3)

i know this is going to peeve a few off, but no doubt with the rumoured movement/retirement of a couple of driver's sale of a few teams and maybe a couple of sponsers moving whynot have it all in one thread.

i'll do one list to kick off discusions and then no more (from me i can't speak for others) and then we can discuss the movements.

I'm told Murph will be retiring at years end and reckon that HRT will have a brand new driver lineup next year under Tom.

Think it is almost certain that Marshall will end up at PWR...whether McConville gets the boot (last year of contract) or whether they run a 3rd car.

The powder room also considers it unlikely that Orrcon will be retained as naming rights sponsor on the #5 car next season... despite Mr Winterbottom getting the brand on the teev very well for that team/backer, the reduction in funds from Ford from next year will mean FPR are likely to have to get off their backsides and find a commercial sponsor paying commercial (i.e. not subsidised) prices....

The rumor mill has also suggested that Ford Aust/NZ may leave BJR and PCR at the end of this year due to the current cash crisis with Ford, Holden and their respective US companies. While Holden may trim their budget with HRT and the HSV Dealer Team. While that sounds crazy, compare Holden's sponsorship to HRT and HSVDT against GRM for example.

not according to the latest V8X... it says that for the short term, HRT & HSVDT's financial backing will be secure, but other teams may be in the firing line, like GRM, PMM etc.

I would have to agree, and ask why John Marshall would buy PWR so his son can race with Britek?

9- Ingall or Steve Owen.
11- Will Larry keep it in the family, or will there be pressure from Holden for two top flight drivers?
14- Jonny Reid was talking about the gig at Pukekohe, Caruso, Denyer, Davison A. also hopefuls for Bradleys seat.
021- Rats being cagey about it... Id expect a new driver for 08.
26- Who ever has sufficient funding will get the seat. Gurr and Irwin most likely will continue their Britek relationship.
55- Tony D'Alberto is the logical pick. $ and a development series crown would give good momentum. Thats if Owen does indeed move up pitlane.
67- With Paul endulging in purer forms of racing and being out performed by his understudies, its about time that a second youngster stepped up to the plate. Pither is being groomed, but perhaps hes still a year too green for the Championship series?
111- This will be an interesting one. Cruickshank has links to Webb, Baird, Davison, Maybe even Besnard could slip under the radar.

Future reference: Holdsworth and Price will eventually end up in top Holden drives. They are regarded as the future faces of the racing brand. Brett Hobson is also being kept on the manufacturers close eye after an impressive start to the DVS. Timu.

mctshirt should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Selected quotes from an article about what manager Graham Watson sees in the the future of A1GP driver Jonny Reid:

"Reid has had approachs to drive V8 Supercars in Australia, and he and Watson are discussing other possibilities in Europe."

"I don't want him in V8's for another 10 years - he's too good for that. When drivers do V8's they get bad habits and then they can't drive single seaters so well.

Jonny could be another Craig Lowndes [triple V8 champion] but I believe he is still young enough to be getting towards F1."

"But he adds, its time for Reid to find a position where he gets paid to drive instead of having to bring in money to teams. Top drivers in V8 Supercars earn $A1 million a year."

Did this this slip past the powder room or smoke and mirrors from someone trying to sell a driver. What's the word Timu? Good fit for TKR in the future but probably wouldn't have deep enough pockets.

Go on - stick him in the list - you know you want to
