Yeah, but it only took a year or two for Petit to become a tradition. Tradition isn't always about length of time, more about feeling. That's why there's been so much backlash over the loss of Silverstone - that and Spa was the traditional pre-Le Mans events. The 6 Hours/1000km of Silverstone pre-dates the WEC inclusion too.
WEC did have traditions. Did being the important word there. So now they need to rebuild a lot of it. |

The Spa 6H have been held on the first weekend (Saturday) of May for the last 5-6 years with most of the previous runnings usually on the second weekend. No where near the traditional date like LM or Sebring but showing more consistency that the Petit date. Anyway, avoiding date clashes between major sportscar championships (which both WEC and IMSA undeniably are) should be a bigger priority for sanctioning bodies. It would boost the sportscar racing market quite a bit! |

Ian Dawson has officially re-formed his racing team and is planning on entering an LMP2 car for the 2018 season.
Add another entry to the DPi category! Wee! http://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/da...s-sponsorship/ *EDIT* Cue the Ian Dawson Libra Hybrid jokes hehe. |

Careful with Rusivno rumours. Most of his plans revolve around silver drivers. He almost left WEC when he got moved to gold, until he got Pierre Thirriet onboard. Driver ratings aren't really a huge issue in IMSA Prototype class, but he does change his mind quite a lot. G-Drive sponsored Caddy would look awesome though.

If they got cash then maybe this time it could happen. Transformers is pretty neat to have involved. I've been wishing for years that Fast and Furious franchise would get involved. But nothing much doing there.

I forgot that it was rumored that AMG/Merc had offered up a RM Mk.30 DPi to teams. Maybe D3 will be that team. Especially now that the chassis is getting an upgrade/re-homologation and is being proven out by Joest.

It also says that the car was overweight by about 25kg, not the 50+ that was originally rumored.

Talking to Renger at Road America, he said the Riley wasn't as stiff as the Ligier, and so that was effectively soaking up some of the power from the engine.

Man I miss a lot when I am late watching races...
This sebring mess is just that. A mess. Great idea to be a part of the weekend, but starting at midnight is silly. If they were upset that the Sunday cota race looked bad because so many fans left, how will it look Sunday morning when half the crowd is either sleeping or packing up and taking down their camps? The camera views at the start of the race will be awkward with a traffic jam of cars leaving. The trail of headlights heading out the track will look like field of dreams on rewind. The idea of a Friday race anywhere between 4 and 10 hours is best. That would be a great thing. Plus, if this relationship turns icy again, what are the odds the aco starts claiming their 12 hours of Sebring was the "real" 12 hours of Sebring and try co-opting it? |

IMSA owns the track lease, what is even the point of saying something stupid like WEC stealing the race?

That's not what I said? But a few years afterward if the relationship turned bad again the aco could start advertising their entrants as winners of the 2019 12 hours of Sebring and co-opt it as their version was the real one, thus marginalizing the actual 12 hours of Sebring from that year.
