Valker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
RTCC in 2007

RTCC (Russian Touring Car Championship) has a home page at http://www.motorsport.ru/eng/index_eng/ . Unfortunately most info is only in Russian. After some babelfishing I've understood that in 2007 cars in full FIA S2000 spec are allowed and differences between cars in different rules are compensated in weight.

RTCC Touring cars had 15" wheels so there's +90kg for using 17" wheels and additional 50kg for cars homologated later than 2005 to make older second hand S2000 cars competitive.

There are also several other rule changes compared to FIA S2000 so all RTCC Touring cars should be legal in 2007.

Apparently it's also possible to homologate S2000 cars nationally.

Provisional entry list:

MTS AC Racing, BMW 320i E46
Vladimir Labazov
Oleg Petrishin

Sport-Garage, Audi A4
Timur Sadredinov
Aleksey Dudukalo

AVTODOM Racing BMW Russia, BMW 320i E46
TBA
TBA

Golden Motors, Ford Focus
Yuri Odud
Igor Odud
David Kakabadze
TBA

Golden Motors 2, HONDA Accord Euro R
Aleksandr Lvov
Andrey Smetskiy

Lada Racing, Lada 21106
Sergey Nuzhdin
Aleksey Gruzdev

RTCC support classes are Super Production, Touring Light (Gr.A? 1600cc) and National Class (Lada 2111).

Finaly we've finished with 15" wheels, so there's only +50 kg for 2006 cars.

Looks interesting, especially with the Focuses and Accords.

It will be interesting if fourth Focus will be driven by professional. Because one Accord's driver is very fast and another Accord and three Fords are gentlemen drivers.

How competitive does it look like the Lada's will be?

Are they works entries, or private one's?

As a Lada owner i'm always happy to see the marque competing

Except for Ladas, are all the other cars S2000 based? Or is the Lada also S2000, but just not homologated? Or a lower spec Lada trying to race against true pukka S2000 cars?

I wouldn't like to disappoint you, but in fact there's not chance for good performance shown by Lada. In spite of the fact that it is factory team, there's one main problem - no budget for the past couple of years. As result - usually end of the grid. By the way these Ladas are not those wich were presented as WTCC project. Originally these cars homologated by Gr.N and prepared by Superproduction spec in 2000, and then in 2005 upgraded to S2000. The other cars on RTCC grid this year based on S2000 rules.

Calendar 2007:

13 May, TBA, St.Petersburg
27 May, TBA, St.Petersburg
10 June, Luzhnik, Moscow
1 July, Avtodrom Moskva (ADM), Myachkovo, Moscow Oblast
22 July, ADM, Myachkovo, Moscow Oblast
2 September, ADM, Myachkovo, Moscow Oblast
16 september, Luzhnik, Moscow

SGarage, do you have any info where the St. Petersburg races will take place? I have understood there won't be racing on Neva Ring because of construction of new Kirov Stadium.

Calendar looks pretty dull incuding only 3 circuits... Why RTCC doesn't go to Kazan like F1600 and NGSA (Lada racing series)? Also EST-Ring in Estonia or any of Finnish tracks would be nice addition

Yes, the Danish championship is equally dull (4 races at Jyllandsringen, 3 at Padborg and 1 at Sturup)...

You're right, there are no St. Petersburg races .
The possible replacements -
13 may - Bothnia Ring (Jurva, Finland)
12 august - ADM, Myachkovo, Moscow Oblast

Kazan circuit does not exist yet, so we can't joke around with official calender.

Ok... No Botniaring race after all. Now there are 7 races at ADM in the calendar. Apparently the 1st meeting was changed to a test session and the first actual race was this weekend but I can't find results anywhere (no results for F1600 or Lada racing series can be found either).

As far as I know there have been huge problems between Russian NSA (RAF and RTCC/F1600/FRus organizers...

I hope SGarage could clarify the situation to us.

There's a updated entrylist at the RTCC website

Code:
4 Aleksander Lvov HONDA Accord Euro R Golden Motors 2
5 Andrey Smetskiy HONDA Accord Euro R Golden Motors 2
88 Maxim Tsimbalov AUDI A4 Sport-Garage
99 Nikolai Bolshih AUDI A4 Sport-Garage
93 David Kakabadze FORD Focus II Golden Motors
26 Yuri Odud FORD Focus II Golden Motors
10 Sergei Krylov FORD Focus II Golden Motors
16 Anton Tregubov FORD Focus II ROSDIESEL.RU
7 Ilya Burenko BMW 320i E46 Forza Sport

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
But Denmark itself is about 1k times smaller, don't understand why you can't do downtown street circuits? Many of competing drivers (both rally and racing) are rich businessmen, or drivers backed by big fishes.

Such a big and beautiful country, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladykavkaz, Yaroslavl, Vladyvostock, Novosibirsk, etc.

I know your streets are, most times in worst condition than those in Poland, but money is there.

The official explanation was that the safety standards were not high enough, but in reality most likely something about money….

But the way, DTC had a record high grid last weekend: 28 (all S200 cars), very impressive for such a small country

Jimmy, having only three circuits in the championship may be dull, but the racing is not!

The first 9 races have produced 5 different winners, and the races I saw at Sturup were good 'touring car races'.
The efforts that the Danish are putting into running their championship should be applauded!

Golden Motors has bought the Accord to the JAS or it has bought to a team that it made them to run the past year? And Focus are those that have run 2005 Wtcc with team Ford Hotfiel Sport? If yes I did not know that of they had constructed four.

Are there any Danish cars that only appear there? Like the Civics only show up in the UK as do the Vectras ...

I'm starting to like the thought of a pan European end of season event for all S2K touring car series where all the runners from each turn up

But bear in mind the 2006 event wasn't announced until August.
