Of course he knew.

Everything else is just media beat-up.

Roland apparently knew he was leaving but perhaps not where he was going.

I'd imagine that engineering on race day isn't really the biggest deal in with Ludo is up to.

Much more worried about the development of the next car - from the FG onwards, the cars Ludo has engineered have been the cars to beat. PRA managed to get their cars to be fast enough last year but really nobody else has taken it up to 888 since they hit their straps.

Dane may not have known where he was going, but would have known he was off to a competitor. When Ludo gave his notice, Dane would have asked where he was off to. If he had said 'DJRTP', he would have been sent to the garden. If he had said 'can't say' he would have been sent to the garden. The only way he realistically would have been able to see out the year would have been if he was going overseas or retiring.

Notice his profile remains on the team's website, something that didn't happen when Adrian Burgess gave his notice. http://www.redbullracingaustralia.co.../ludo-lacroix/

Story Here

Its name calling time.... its almost like Mr Dane is offended that the bloke who brought him cars that have wone everything there is to win, chose to leave.

There are only so many other options in the motorsport world for a technical director at that level of excellence...

It still reads like media beat-up, to me at least.

Mr Dane has a right to be annoyed at the timing of it all, and that Monsoir Lacroix is off to a competitor. So would most people in his position.

You really can't be surprised at Mr Dane for not sugar-coating the whole situation. That's never really been the Triple Eight way.

Depends on how honest Ludo was. Appears that Dane is not so much peeved that he is leaving, but that he was less than honest about his plans, he didn't need to name DJR as his destination, but should have advised he was off to a competitor and then gone on gardening leave. But as it seems Dane learnt of it via the press, then he is wthin his rights to be peeved.

More HEre

Since the move seems out to have been communicated earlier in the year, there has been plenty of time to ask...

Seems to me to be a double standard.

It was apparently OK for T8 to 'entice' AB & SVG away from their current employers, but not, when T8 employees are similarly 'enticed' elsewhere?

It depends whether they lied to their old boss about where they were going...

It seems obvious that Ludo has told RD something and has either told a mistruth or had a convenient "change of mind".

People do come and go but 888 has largely kept its team together VERY well. Ludo has been with Roland for 17 years - you'd think after that long you could at least be completely up front about where you're going. Gardening leave is standard practice if you're going to a competitor, rather than leaving the category or retiring.

Was ludo happy with his current role at T8. No one knows.

But we know this, Roland has history regarding being bitter about people leaving. Apparently (according to Roland) AB told him the truth and Roland was very bitter. Knowing this why would you tell him anything

Roland needs to grow up, its alright for him to take blokes from other team ie Adrian Burgess DJR, Grant McPherson FPR. But when the shoe is on the other foot poor old Roland spits the dummy.

People are getting too caught up in their emotions, as a result of the media practically stalking and harassing the personalities of the sport. They're playing up to the passionate and anti-passionate fanbase, to generate clicks and views, which translates to dollars.

If Roland and Ludo worked for Woolworths, and Ludo decided to work for Coles, nobody would give a fat rat's.

isnt that the whole idea to create passion?

Ludo would still be on gardening leave though in that scenario. I dont think anyone cares that he has been asked to take leave. Its Roland bad mouthing that has people interested, (although quite probably thats all about your original sentence)

I agree with Mixer, gardening leave is common practice, not a lot to see here.

Lets face it, it's in everyone's best interests to let Ludo sit the rest of the year out, the blue between Ferrari and Mercedes over Benjamin Hoyle is a good case in point.

The West Australian has been in F1 for 16 years, initially with Lotus, then Jordan where his talents started to impress. In 2001, Michael was headhunted by Williams, to work alongside the celebrated technical director Patrick Head.

The difference in Mr Michael's role in F1 and his mooted role at RBHRT is that every single week, 888 is in a position technically, financially & operationally to be in the top 3 every session, every, qualifying, every race. The teams Mr Michael worked for in F1 were never that..
