If the exhaust is located just behind the front wheels, it should have a great affect on front downforce. Wouldnt it help with speeding up airflow?

Would that even be allowed? I know that some may think thats silly, but have a look at this- http://www.plugincars.com/gearboxes-...vs-129152.html. Theres an idea that has been on my mind that I wasn't sure would work. Itd be interesting to hear thoughts from you guys with more technical insight.
The engine (or "Power Unit") necessarily transfers its torque to the drive shafts via a gearbox. It has to. So, it is pretty clear - considering that the rules provide that the gearbox is part of the rear drive train - that the engine can only drive the rear drive train.

I am no technician but don't a lot of high powerd cars use a transaxle at the rear with a propshaft spinning at engine speed?

Is that not an option because of the hybrid systems?

The road going Nissan GT-R indeed follows this approach with its front-engined, rear-mounted transaxle gearbox concept. It is not unreasonable to believe and expect that the Nissan LM GT-R could basically reflect a similar concept.

As far as the hybrid system is concerned, I see no reason why they could not integrate an ERS-K on the rear axle.

This might be the point where it gets crazy, but would it be allowed to face the driver rearwards in the car and only drive backwards?

Why, thank you!

But, I'll admit to being completely stumped how to reconcile this driving the rear axles through the gearbox rule with the logical approach of a backwards DW concept being front wheel drive through a transaxle, with electric drive on the rear.

I'm eagerly awaiting when we get to find out more about the car. As a designer, I really enjoy clever design solutions!

If it looks anything like that, I'll be happy. The Panoz was one of the cars which grabbed my interest in sportscars over Formula One and anything which harks back to that is welcomed warmly by me.

I would take that article with a bucket load of salt though.

Now make sense what Mr. Darren Cox said about Nissan being the "Bad Boy´s"

If this is resemble with the real car… it´s fantastic.

Let´s hope the car is fast and reliable too :-)

It's Jalopnik. Take it with a rather large grain of salt.

It's an artists impression based on the rumours that have been speculated on. It makes sense that it looks a lot like the Panoz because that's the most recent (only?) front-engined LMP. Oh and the addition of the GT-R grill/front end, in a Mercedes CLR that's-not-quite-going-to-fit style.

Even if it doesn't quite match that picture, the GR-T LMP will definitely turn heads! I hope it has the pace to back up the looks...

It's pretty poor what they've done using Mikes article and passing it off as their own. I like Jalopnik even though it's a bit of a tabloid but this leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Allegedly Panoz has hired former Spyker CEO Victor Muller as a consultant in an attempt to take over Nissan-Renault. The Don was more than impressed by the o-so-successful capture of Saab and is looking to create his own 'David vs. Goliath' story!

Such a great, modern Christmas fairytale don't you think?
