In the BTCC maybe. But people deride without thought, which frustrate me. You can't have thirty one championship contenders. But I think that is still a competitive and (with maybe one exception) a talented bunch.

and that's the point , as half of the grid is already announced only 5-6 drivers have proven themselves in BTCC , it's just annoying when you see too many new faces at once

now out of this drivers only 4 are really front running material so far, Austin, Morgan , Tordoff and Aron Smith

for a premier touring car championship this is a bit worrying now hope the other half of the grid is of a more competitive pedigree
You said it yourself, half announced so far. It's either "OMG Half " or "Only Half". Glass half full over here...

I agree with the doubters. Not a talented grid so far and unless we get some big announcements soon then Sam Tordoff is going to walk it!

Aiden Moffat won't be far off Morgans pace straight away though. I rate him and he conducts himself well too. Top ten runner at this rate.

So will we see the Pirtek MG at ASI? A.J has always said he wanted a works deal and with Neal & Shedden at Honda he was never going to get a full Honda deal so he's taken his sponsors to 888.

But who will be his team mate? If Turkington doesn't sign for BMR he could be back in an MG :-) Now that would be a strong team to run against the Dynamics run Hondas....

It's not even 2015 yet, I can't be too worried yet. We'll see how it looks after AS Int.

For all of the excitement surrounding the rumours (Priaulx and all that) I'm not getting my hopes up. The only worthwhile addition to the grid is Bushell (although seeing Cook out can only improve the quality) whilst the others are all mid-pack at best from what I've seen so far.

Whilst I may have previously bigged up Martin and Perfetti, Perfetti has to thank fortune and Michael Caine for a large chunk of his British GT title success, although he looked fast and certainly feisty. Hopefully Martin can have a similarly good time at the same team (Motorbase) as his former rival.

But we are waiting for AJ, Plato, Neal, Shedden, Collard, Turks, etc to be confirmed before we can say the BTCC has turned the quality of 2014 from being a short-term thing into something more lasting...

Lee, i admire your positivity....to a point. I just wish you'd direct it at something that is actually positive. Maybe your youth and lack of years following makes this happen but i agree with most so far.

Half the grid and only a few who will run in a manner expected..and at least 1 who so far has only showed he certainly can't behave in a way expected.

I so far expect the history of last years grid to remain that....a flash in the pan..a one off.

There is so much bed-wetting and hand-wringing going on here.

Plenty of BTCC race winners / former champions will very likely announce their entry over the next few months....

2 drivers finished within 100 points of the champion. 7 within 200. 2 of the previous champions finished more than 250 points off the pace. It was a fun year, but historic? Not so sure.

There's 3 months before media day, plenty left to come out, so I don't see what all the negativity is about really! One 'undesirable' driver does not a BTCC grid spoil!

Either new car or new team by the sounds if things for AJ, as he states 7th Jan to announce, I don't think things will look half as bad talent wise on the grid after ASI.

Does Andrew Jordan harbour plans to enter the World Rally Cross championship at some point? He finished on the podium in his one-off wild card entry this year.

Rallycross would be my guess if he leaves the BTCC. Would be a real shame as he is a quality driver.

Matt Neal is pretty much confirmed and I'd imagine Shedden will follow, two top drivers there which is a positive.

Merry Christmas chaps by the way!

He is certainly teasing us! I think he is going to do a full season in CSCC Tin Tops! Both he and his dad have driven in that before, and the driving standards will be better in club racing.

Or, perhaps he is off to Aus V8 Supercars, didn't he test there earlier in the year?

Or....

DTM

Or....

What the hell, we will find out soon enough, and we will probably all be wrong.

Why everyone is suggesting this I don't know. AJ confirmed he is contracted to race in the BTCC with Pirtek as a sponsor a while ago. Which team is a different matter; as I said about a month back I have a feeling he'll be off to MG...

Due to Pirtek I still think he will race in BTCC.
Doesn't make sense for Pirtek to sponsor him in WRX.

Andy Jordan will be heading down under to team up with Marcos Ambrose in Pirtek sponsored V8 supercars run by DJR-Penske for 2015.

There's your rumor.

Except that DJRP are only running one car.

I'm confident that Jordan will be staying in BTCC for at least the upcoming season.
