Getting into stock cars-UK

Hi all, new on here so be easy on me

but a rather simple question is all I ask.

and that is, What is the easiest(and cheapest) way into racing stock cars in the UK?

depends what class you want to race in....it can be broken down into 2 forms, contact and non contact racing.

first off if your looking for something like nascar in the uk...it doesnt exist..apart from the euro stock cars based mainly in belgium

non contact racing starts with series like stock rods, lightning rods which are saloon cars and go up to legends, mascars and national hot rods.

if its contact racing your after, there are f2 stock cars, superstox, v8 stock cars, v8 hot stox and f1 stock cars. f2 stock cars are by far the most popular form of racing, v8 stock cars and hotstox are basically poor mans f1 stock cars. google short circuit magazine, theres a classifieds ads section on there you can look at some cars for sale. also google ftooz, it will take you to their site and forum where more people will be available to answer questions

good thing abouut short oval racing is you dont pay to race!!!!...

if you want a realy cheep option rookie bangers is a good way to get a feel for oval racing, there are a few people out there doing arive and drive, cecils rent a rookie being one. Cheep good time racing, just about to set of racing with my 13 year old!!!

Cecil also rents Rookie Rods, if you don't fancy (as much) contact.

Thought an update on my lad was in order, he won the first heat meaning he had to start at the back for the rest of the day, sixth in the second heat and forth in the final. All for a tenner, a scrap Fiesta and a couple of weekends work, a very good day!!!

I would like to add, I would prefer more non contact but will happily go to a contact type of racing if i need to.

Yea its great fun.
I started on the the grass when i was 11 (now 32!) and its cheap fun.
Go for class 1, the 1000cc mini class.

Depends where you live aswell fella. I would recommend autograss, but it's not as cheap as you think. A lot of peoeple spend a lot of money even in the standard classes, but at club evel you can have fun for peanuts!

But you need to be near a club really , so let us know where you are and we can help more.

As for short oval, there are many tracks, but again be easier to tell us where you are and go from there.

Then your closest oval is Smeatharpe Stadium and your promotor is Autospeed. It is more of a contact track really, I believe Autospeed do run a Stock Rod formula at the track, but any other non- contact formulas are probably touring.
