2010 ALMS Winter Test

I'm considering playing hooky and heading over to Sebring for one day of the Feb. winter test. Has anyone seen a list of who will be participating?

Apparently, winter testing is the only time Audi will show face in FLA this year.

Hmm, I thought they would be testing at the conclusion of the race, not at the WDWT.

Maybe they're testing before the test?

I could be wrong but I was under the impression Audi was performing a simulated 12hr race on Mon. following the 12hrs of Sebring race. Also isnt the winter test ONLY for teams entered in the actual race? I didnt think Audi even could practice during the official test days.

The test is for ALMS competitors, not restricted to those only competing in the 12 hours. Anyone can test if they're planning on running at least one race this year in the ALMS.

If the car isn't ready to race at Sebring, I don't think it will be ready to test one month earlier. If it was at least built, the test a month in advance would be a great boost to running the 12 Hour itself. So I believe Audi will only be testing at Sebring after the 2010 12 Hours has concluded.

I'm sure the R15+ will test sometime in February. In Europe.

I expect the car will be close to race-ready by Sebring time, but they probably realize they'll get the same effect with less extrinsic risk testing after the race than in it. They must realize they got a little lucky last year at Sebring with the limited testing they put on the car, and probably would rather sacrifice the experience for less of an embarrassment at La Sarthe.

As for who will be at the Winter Test, I suppose Highcroft will need to put some mileage on the 02c...then? ESM could well run with their Ferraris as they've had them out already. Challenge cars of both stripes...who else? Intersport? One of the other 2010 Ferrari or Porsche teams shaking down their new specification cars?

Not to split hairs but Highcroft will be using the ARX-01c (P2 car), probably what you meant. Either way they still could use the track time with the new aero.
The test could give a better idea of who the challenge entries will be. Interesting to see if Comprent and Genoa show plus any GA Porsches.

Black Swan will be there, and I think Primetime as well. Also I seem to remember Autocon saying they would be there, but I can't find the link. I would imagine the Falken car is a strong possibility too.

I may attend the test also. Does one purchase a ticket in advance or at the gate?

So maybe we see them during the 12hours if the test works well? No webcam in Sebring?

If Audi are testing this week, are they still going to test after the 12hours in March?

Why can't people read?

Audi is testing now and will not be at the 12 Hours.

End of Audi discussion.

He asked if they were testing "after" the 12 Hours not racing at the 12 hours.

I would presume they are, they have done that many times before.

Seems odd that they would be here to practice, then skip the race and then come back to practice again. However, they are Germans!

Hmm, how about it is not their choice to skip the race! And after the result last year, with a short program prior to Le Mans, I am sure they will get an abundant amount of track time this year.
