Where to stay from testday (June 1) till LM sites open?
Last year I stayed at the municipal campsite in Beaumont-sur-Sarthe http://www.ville-beaumont-sur-sarthe...oisirs/camping which was very nice, quiet, and hospitable. But it came to my attention that the landlady, the lovely Marie, who was very much the reason of the hospitable part, will not be there anymore next year, as she will be opening her own B+B in the Provence. Also, Beaumont-sur-Sarthe is about 25 miles away from Le Mans, which is not extremely convenient.
So I might (or might not, decisions are very much still open on that) want to stay the week at another campsite. Anybody stayed at the Spay municipal campsite and can tell me about it? It is supposedly the campsite which is the closest to the circuit. http://www.ville-spay.fr/spip.php?rubrique28 Or any other options? Nothing too expensive though, I pretty much only need decent sized pitches for a car, a tent and a gazebo, and one for a car and a caravan, both with electrical hook-up. Quietness on the site is what I am looking for, so the less kids, the better. Thanks in advance, Vince Last edited by vincegail; 11 Sep 2013 at 15:44. |

That looks like it Vince, and it looks like they have updated it quite a bite, grass is flat and green and plenty of nice places to eat in the town, plus a very good zoo which we went to a few years ago.

Is that the one on the right before you go over the bridge? Quite like the look of that when I've passed it

If you are coming from the town it is on the right just after the bridge, yes it is nice, one of our group stayed there for many years but eventually decided that he drive back to the circuit during the race was to much hassle but if you are looking for somewhere to stay before the ACO sites open it is worth considering

Was being totally thick and confusing it with Le Lude. Not seen the La Fleche site, but a friend told me recently he'd stayed there a couple of times and thought it was very good. La Fleche is a lovely town too.

The mate that used to stay there always took his fishing tackle and would go fishing in the river from the camp site never caught much but then he was not that good at it
