Cleland and Brabam in BTCC 1997 ?

Hi,

i'm a Opel/Vauxhall collector for The Netherlands.

Now i have found some information about the BTTC year 1997, but sofar i know J. Cleland and D. Warwick driving the Triple 8 cars but i found on the site from Competition information that also Brabham was in the BTCC of 1997 is that true, if not where was Brabham in that time ?

My thanks.

Welcome to forum Opelmad.

My knowledge on the BTCC is limited for 1997, Brabham may well have been on the entry list, but the first and last time I know that he competed in the BTCC was in 1995 with the works BMW Team. Sorry I do not know what he was competing in at that time.

Could you tell us the site where you got this information from?

I've studied the 1997 review video (It's all i've got in terms of the BTCC) and I am pretty sure that David Brabham didn't drive then.

1997 was Cleland and Warwick. David Brabham drove a BMW in 1995 but definately wasn't in the series in 1997 and to my knowledge has never raced a Vectra.

I think David was driving for Panoz in 1997.

Maybe Brabham and Cleland drove a race together at Bathurst, or they shared a car in the Tourist Trophy.

By the way why was it called the Tourist Trophy?

I'm 99% sure Cleland and James Kaye drove at Bathurst once, beats me to whether it was '97 or '98.

Yes you right.

In 1997 there was a
Vauxhall Vectra Cleland/Kaye
Vauxhall Vectra Warwick/Brock

In 1998;
Vauxhall Vectra Cleland/Warwick

I have the models form that car.

Now there's coming up a new thing in my head.

I will make a new topic of that :-)

That's a pretty cool website. I like some of those models. Especially the older BMWs from the BTCC.
