Playstation supports Loeb. GT5 has him featured, along with Vettel. So it's no surprise they jumped on board with this car. He may he approached them, or they may have backed him from the beginning.

They've been backing Loeb since 2004 I make it. Think it's the French arm of Sony/Playstation.

Playstation France/Europe have always sponsored French endurance teams. Before the Peugeot spell (replacing XBox 360), they were on the Pescarolos (until 2009) and the Orecas at the same time.
There are hopes that Pescarolo will get it again this year, which would help a lot with the budget but, realistically, would have been announced already. They are also on the Signatech Orecas. |

The car is engineered by Léo Thomas (ex-Peugeot Sport race engineer), so I think they're well-set in that regard and he already has a relationship with 2/3 of the driver lineup.

I suspect neither Bailey, or the European team involved (Sbarta?) were able to pull together a deal to run the car in Europe. Hopefully this won't be the end of the line for the project...

Yeah , but the goal posts are forever moving , and sadly I feel that if/when it does hit the track , it will be left behind .
Shame , as it added another lovely sound to a quite boring sounding class . |

Sad to report that the Le Castellet entry list has decreased even more, the witdrawals of second Oak, Loeb LMPC and the only GTC entry of RaceArt bring the number down to 20... smallest ACO/IMSA grid since Mosport 2009 in ALMS?

weak field indeed but whats new. take out the grid fillers and the alms grid is pretty much the same size (19 for LB). they just have more gt cars while elms has more lmp2s. just sayin. Personally i would much rather have a "pure" field that is weak than an artificially expanded one with fake prototypes fake gts (and deltawings?). imho.

Status GP still don't have drivers listed either, but I guess the test with Tommy Erdos earlier this week is a pointer to who'll be in the car LMP2 looks good- frankly the rest is a mess, and it'll be interesting to see how they retrieve this situation... |

Then it would be no different to 500 other GT3 series in Europe, with the expection of dozen pro-am, cost-capped and performance balanced LMP2s running at the front. Exciting!

Yeah, I doubt many more GT3 teams than GTE or GTC squads would be interested. It's not like LMS would be their chance to shine on the big stage anymore.

Unless Le Mans itself was open to GT3 cars and there was the possibility of an entry through ELMS, what would be the incentive for GT3 teams to join when there's a huge number of series in much better health they can join instead?

As the fia Gt1 will be contested with gt3 lemans will never allow them to race on the wec too!
It is clearly impossible to have 2 world championship competed with the same cars !!!!!!!!!! So there will be never gt3 in the wec! and I suppose also on the LMS... |

I'm kind of surprised the ELMS GTC class isn't more popular than it is(understatement, I know).

It was last year , a lot of teams have gone WEC .
What are we expecting here ? We have been harping on about wanting a real world championship for years , now we have one and everyone is gobbing off about the ELMS entry . Something had to suffer . The Americans never really supported a "world" sportscar series , so they stay at home and support their own , fair enough . A lot of Euro teams are now in the WEC ..... Im happy with the WEC . |
