Insurance question

Having never dreally driven a modified (in any way) car on the road can anyone help me out here?

Obviosuly you can get specific insurance for while your car is on a track day. But not many people bother I gather.

But what about when it isn't? Obviously you have the section where you can specify what modifications are on the car such as brakes, suspension.

What about usage? I might use it for commuting once in a while, where do I tell people it is used on track days?

Is it worth just insuring as a normal car and hoping for the best!

It's not an expensive car I am looking at using.

Any suggesitons for insurance companies people have used that are sympathetic to track day fans?

to and from a track or venue is covered by 'social domestic and pleasure'. You / it is not insured for track days on a normal policy, you would need additional cover from a specialist such as MMC for that.

Why do you think so many cars on a track day have their No Plates covered.

Seen a few smashed cars trailered away from the circuit and ""dumped" by the roadside over the years !

I am finding it pretty expensive to simply insure a car with no engine tuing or eingine mods like a filter or pipe but only suspension and brakes

Any suggestions to sympathetic firms guys?

Flux is a rip off merchant!

Personally I have never had to insure a car separately for years, I have a traders policy that is cheap as I have never had a claim since I have been driving.
I do know that it costs me a lot less than a first time teenager to use a policy that covers me and my other half to drive most cars fully comprehensive at any time so I consider myself lucky !
The downside is that you have to be old !!!

Swiftcover,do it all on-line,you could pay monthly if you want. Would have thought Flux to be the last place on the list.

Mananged to get a great quote from the guys at Greenlight, really helpful, offered advice on how I might be able to save a few quid, gave me TPFT and Comp quotes to compare, and were genuinely helpful and also cheaper than the people I have dealt with up to now.

Highly recommended.
