Holfields Supercar For Sale
I see that Helmut Holfields ex Haffey Escort supercar is up for sale in Motoring News. 70k anyone?

It's been for sale for quite a while. It seems to be in MN for a few issues then goes back out again.
Seem's like a bargain for the Supercar/Div 1 ranks as it is quite a rapid and reliable car when it has been out racing. Now all I need to muster up is £69995! Must carry on looking behind the sofa!

It has been in there on and off for ages!
When you think some of the supermods are being built for 80 - 90 k ++, looks like a really good deal. Wonder how much a car like Mindys Focus would fetch. I'm sure we'll find out oneday! |

I dont think its the initial purchase, its the continual running costs, that car has a lot of unique features which equate to expensive spares.

I guess the difficulty for Holfeld is that there are quiet a few more modern Div. 1 cars on the market and not all that many buyers. If you look on rallycross.com there's a Polish Focus on offer at 50k EURO... and lower spec Div 1s even cheaper.
There is also the problem that the Escort must be way out of homologation and therefore ineligible for the ERC I guess? It's a very impressive bit of kit though - would be great to see it out again! |

The Escort RS2000 is in it's last year of homologation, unless they paste a few years extra on it. The Escort Cosworth is already out. (or vice-versa, you get the point). I think 70k in pounds is very expensive though, it's about 112k in euros. Look at Edwin Geraerts' car: 75k in Euros. That car can easily drive for top B-finals in Europe and for years to come.
