"Knowing" you from the old days of commentating at Brands along with Brian and then hearing you on RLM when I first started going to Le Mans as a Marshal way back in the mid eighties, geat well soon as we need you to keep us informed of what is going on.
Best wishes from all the Brit Marshals at Le Mans. |

Well guys... I am overwhelmed by the response. I am now back at home having had the tumour successfully removed as planned last Tuesday (Oct 9th). The recovery was going well... 24 hours in Intensive care was a doddle compared to standing next to Hindy in the Tribune... until Friday evening when the doctor told me I was above-average. Then Saturday morning I woke up with the mother and father of hangovers, which was particularly frustrating having not touched a drop all week. Since then the right side of my face has gone completely paralysed, which means that I can't blink properly, have a lop-sided smile, and dribble when eating and drinking (apparently this could just be a sign of my age).
But everyone has been really great, have received great support from family, friends and acquaintainces. So a big thank you to you all. Tomorrow I go back to the hospital to have the staples in my head removed, and also from my stomach, where they dug out a bit of fat to patch up the hole they made in my head. Meantime, I'm having a great time going through all those books that have been sitting on the bookshelf waiting to be read, and watching old Le Mans videos...! Thanks again for all the good wishes, Paul Truswell |

Good news indeed Paul...
Don't worry though if you dribble, Hindy should be use to it... |

Yes, very relieved to hear you've come through the op in one piece (almost)!
And enjoy those books and vids whilst you convalesce, they should be the perfect tonic. |

Hi Paul, being left with one ear gone deaf is not what you would call "ideal", but I guess there's no other way out. Glad to see you haven't lost your sense of humor though! You should train your other ear before setting off to LM for '08, that one is gonna hurt as the concentration will be on that side!
Anyway, all the best for a speedy and as-best-as-possible recovery from all of us at Drinking for Holland. Looking forward to hear you again, shouting at us through our speaker system during the race at our track side pitch on MB. Not long before all will be boring diesels, you can whisper all through the night then |
