MARANELLO MOTORSPORT will be parting ways with the Bentley Continental GT3 it runs in Australian GT under the Flying B Racing banner as soon as possible.

Didn't think Ferrari would care that much. No offence to MM but it's not like they're AF Corse.... They are the premier Ferrari GT team in the land but running the car on the side under the Flying B banner should've created a buffer but seems not.

Yes I did forget about that. That takes it back a few years. Not a bad move back to the Prancing Horse given their experience with the Bentley. Bit of a shame really.

Good to hear. I was there a couple of years ago when they were supports and they were enjoyable out on the Albert Park layout.

Anyone know what is the history of the Voight Porsche GT3-R?

My understanding was that Quinn brought the first one out here which then went to the Kondouris brothers. I vaguely recall them trying to sell it. They still have one, Macpherson has maybe 2 and now Voight has one.

There are currently 4 GT3R's in the country.

1. VIP petfoods now owned by Koundouris.

2. Ex Japanese Tasian car - Andrew Macpherson

3. ?? don't know origin - Andrew Macpherson (Andrew purchased another one whilst the Tasian car was being repaired after Highlands last year. He also has the new 991 on the way also!! Very luck boy!!)

4. John Morris Ex Asian GT - Scott Taylor Motorsport.

5 cars mate and I don't know what happened to the ice break 12hr Porsche if this stayed in the country or shipped back... (Could be 6 based on this)

Seriously good news coming out of the GT camp

My ideal scenario would be a few of the v8supercar drivers or decent international drivers like Christopher mies being paired up with young up and coming pro's in say 5 -8 cars up front while the gentleman drivers who have made the category as popular as it is possibly receive even better handicap's and give them a chance to compete against the pro drivers/teams.

Next year looks amazing for Australian GT.

To have so many cars in excess of the maximum grid capacity that they have created a whole new series for the older class cars is brilliant. 5 round series on the shannons bill should give it some reasonable exposure as well. With the rules copying the main series I wonder if it will allow for some cross over of co drivers between the two series.

Tony quin and co have done a great job with helping this series flourish.

I am not sure what the impact will be for the State series. In NSW the fields have been up and down. The first Wakefield event was well supported, the second had less than 10 cars. The first Eastern Creek round had an awesome field while the one the other week was a bit down compared to the first. No mentioned of cost which may be the ultimate decider.

I'm not sure why NSW has struggled with field sizes this year, but we've averaged about 20 cars at each round this year in QLD.

One of the issues with the last round was it clashed with the Vic state round.

So usually a small number of Vic cars attend the SMSP NSW rounds but wouldn't have done so last time.

So with Nissan announcing that the B12 GTR will stay permenantly in Australia after the race, it begs the question, will they race it in Aus GT? I can't see them buying a car soley for one race.
