The price caps are based on retail prices from what i understand. They spend alot more preparing them for racing.

I wonder if Holty will do what everybody else will do & purchase an Evo X?

I have noticed on my105 that there are numerous cars from last years B12hr for sale;

Conroy Integra Type S
Waldon Holden VZ Commodore SS
Mcleod Holden Astra
O'Dowd HSV GTS
Pro duct Evo IX x 2 (entered but didn't race)
Donut King HSV GTS
Messages On Hold Evo IX

I wonder whether any of these teams are planning on entering a car for next years race, besides the Pro duct boys?

I sure hope not - or we could have the world's 1st Lancer Endurance Race.
I think you'll find that there will be a lot of the same guys in the same cars as this year's race.
Bob Pearson has been trying to get rid of those Evo IX's for nearly 12 months. They were on display at this year's 12 Hour out the back of his pit bay. They both had 'For Sale' signs on them as well.
Someone also told me a few months ago that the Walden's wanted to upgrade their trusty SS VZ to a new state-of-the-art HSV, but needed the money from the sale of the SS VZ to do this. I expect that if it isn't sold within the next month or two, they will probably start preparing it for next year's race.
The Messages On Hold Evo was only intended to do this year's race in the hands of the then (and now?) current owners.
Not sure about the Conroy Integra or Mcleod Astra. I thought the Mcleod Astra would've been sold months ago, then it turned up at OP for the Shannon's Nationals.
Have also heard that Colin Osborne has had offers for one of his two Celica's already (presumably the one which wasn't pranged at this year's 12 Hour). We all know of his intentions to buy 2 new Mazda 3 MPS's.
As for Garry Holt, I sure hope he doesn't buy an EVO IX. He's been the only guy capable of beating them the last few year's. I thought he would've been the guy with the new 315i at next year's race...maybe he will be!!!

Also, with the V8 double-header to open the season (allegedly) overseas, surely it would affect the amount of V8 drivers which would be able to tackle the Mount in February?

Would that be the invitational Targa class that Glenn Ridge has started up? They ran on the V8 program at Symmons Plains. Allows Targa style cars like the Jason White Lambo to run - the cars which don't fit into any specific category due to their mods/classification.

Bathurst Targa could attract a Mosler or two!!!

On hearing of the 2010 V8 Supercar calendar, I think there will be a decrease in the amount of V8 drivers who take part in the event next year, but I still think we will get half-a-dozen or so.

John O'Dowd in conjunctionn with Greg Murphy racing is looking into entering a Chevy Camaro into the b12hr.

Waldens in a HSV R8, they could have a good chance in a podium finish!

Good luck to the Waldens.
Do you know if they sold the VZ SS, Davo?

Belly 13, Not sure whether the Waldens have sold the SS, i hope they do so that they can have a serious crack at conquering the mountain in a HSV.

Please correct me if you have more or correct info.
Was there a rumour that last year one J Clarkson was
interested in running in a ute at the 12 hr?
Due to the Top Gear Live having to move onto Singapore
it was ruled out.

Noting that Top Gear Live is February 10-14 2010.
What do you reckon? Logistically do able?
Would some body have to come up with serious dollars?
Stig co-driver after his October practise this year....................?

I just hope the race continues to grow (competitors and spectators) again this year. I do take a bit of an interest in the race as i like the concept. I would prefer some raceday coverage but.

I don't envy the organisers compiling the entries though. While lifting the price cap to say $150g is a good idea what you don't want is 10 teams just going out and getting a new GTR and then we have a GTR race instead of a EVO one

No risk of that I don't think...'if' GTR was allowed, the things would dominate until the first need to refuel and being as heavy as they are, a few pad changes required as well. Would be great to watch them carve through the field after long pit stops.

Would add another dimension, kinda what enduro racing is all about...

If odd-bod's like Camaro's and Mustangs that have even less relevance to the Aust. motoring landscape are allowed (TBC) in the invitational class, why not the GTR?

It wasn't my intent to just single out the GTR, that is just the first one that came to mind. I do agree wholeheartedly though and i've always thought that cars racing in aus should be able to be bought in aus (Aus GT the exception). I don't think a camaro or mustang is going to do much more than a HSV or FPV car anyway

It probably would add a bit to the spectacle though if they could get a couple of these cars in the race.

There is some noise around suggesting that VW is interested in running their R32 replacement in the 2 hour, as a works effort.

I can recall the Vodafone VW Golfs.. a few years ago now..

With AWD, and the boost turned right up... the Golf would be as good if not better than the Evo contingent... and it would definitely be cheaper than the hot shot BMWs too..

Last I heard the Stokell car and what is left of the McColl car were sitting under car covers at Greg Siddle's workshop. I wouldn't want to race one unless I knew 200% that the brake issue had been sorted out.
