If they want to have a MR GT300 car, maybe the GTA should convince Renault/Caterham to develop a prototype of their Alpine sportscar just like the NSX GT500.
That way, more exposure to the brand before its debut to the public. |

Well, CRZ and Prius are GT300 MR's (in race spec). It would be nice to see European cars with the GT300 style like the JLOC Gallardo's of the past!

Hm, Renault=Nissan, could be a way to increase exposure to their other brand in Japan? And Samurai spoke of Lotus in GT300, ELISE?

Um, the driving position should be on the right side (as in Japanese cars) than on the left side. It may have the same monocoque, but they got the driving position wrong.

It's awkward to have a race car (in Japan) to have a left-hand drive where it is supposed to be on the right side. If they're sticking to the regulations completely, people think that they're racing on the wrong side of the road.
GTA and ITR should reconsider the driver position when making the unified regulations. |

you can see the driver is on the left side in the press photos and videos of them testing the 2014 GT500 cars, so theyve definitely switched to LHD

GTA announces GT300 mother chassis technical regulations today.
-Mother chassis cars are called "JAF-GT300 MC (tentative name)." -JAF-GT300 MC's base vehicles are vehicles which GTA accepted. -Vehicles sizes are the same as JAF-GT300. But wheel base is 2,750mm plus/minus 10mm. -Change of engine-loading position is forbidden. -KERS and AWD are forbidden. -Duty of the GTA spec fuel tank is imposed. -Monocoque, rollcage, flat bottom, diffuser, crushable structure, engine and oil tank are the spec parts. -Minimum weight: 1050 or 1100kg. http://as-web.jp/news/info.php?c_id=2&no=51817 Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 11 Oct 2013 at 09:58. |

And the material of wheel is restricted to aluminum.
(cf. 2013 regulations: It must be an aluminum material when the same tire size as GT500 is chosen.) |

According to Masataka Bandoh(team Bandoh, #19)'s blog,
They spent 700 million yen in three years for GT500 participation (SC430 chassis price included). They need 800 million yen for three years of future GT500 participation (LF-CC chassis price included). He says that cost does not decline also in the new regulations. (Team Bandoh is pure privateer team.) http://ameblo.jp/bandoh19/entry-11634920626.html |

Bandoh had said in the past that the team spent 550 million yen in two years.
http://ameblo.jp/bandoh19/entry-11431594238.html That is, about 150 million yen will be required in one year. And the price of SC430 GT500 is about 250 million yen. |

Just had a mini Super GT marathon, watched Suzuka, Fuji and Autopolis races today. This series is so enjoyable...
But in GT500 even with the close racing it doesn't have much overtaking, unless a GT300 gets in the way. Even in the long Fuji straight it was difficult to pass. Can we expect the new chassis help with this a little bit ? |
