Guy Goddard2 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Embarassing Driver Errors (last 20 years)

After watching the 1991 review I couldn't help but laugh after seeing Prost spin off in his Ferrari on the warm up lap in none other than Italy!

Also remember Coulthard hitting the pit wall in Australia and also spinning of on the warm up lap in Italy.

Sato crashing while trying to let his team mate through in Monaco.

I am sure there are many others, looking for driver failures not car failures!

Regards

Guy

Monza 1995

I'd have to say that David Coulthard going off the track at Monza in 1995 during the formation lap was one of the more memorable incidents for me.

How about Nick Heidfeld crashing into the safety car during the warmup for this year's Brazilian GP...

IT wasn't really embarrising, because I don't think it was his fault. IIRC the yellow was obscurred and he did quite well to almost get through the gap!

That was at the last Adelaide Grand Prix in 1995 & i've got to agree that was one of the more embarrassing things i've seen in F1.

hoe about Mansell back in 86 I think cutting his nads on the trophy , but I guess that was embarrassing for the trophy makers

Taki Inoue being hit by the safety car several times , scary but ya gotta giggle at his bad luck there.

embarrassing for the whole sport , the start of the 1989 Oz GP the lights went green with half the field still trying to find their spot on the grid.

DC - Monza 1995 - Spin off on the warm-up lap
DC - Adelaide 1995 - Crash into pit-lane wall

No wonder Williams dropped him!

TGF running HHF off the road in Canada 1998 and then blaming HHF!

TGF crashing on the first lap at Monaco in 1996. I laughed for days after that.

Classic comedy moments. Getting ran over at the Hungaroring by the safety car while trying to get an extinguisher to put out his car. The other time some rally ace was hot dogging it around Monaco and hit Takis car after it was already parked. Japanese drivers have the worst luck.

Piquet attempting to lay into Eliseo Salazar in the 1982 German GP after they had come together.

Patese crashing out of the 1982 Austrian GP after he had just made his pitstop (only the Brabhams made one), was still in the lead and could have just about walked the rest of the race.

Mansell on the last lap of the 1991 Canadian GP, that one has to take the cake.

Coulthard has contributed several. Australia 1995 is the worst, but also Italy that year, Nurburgring 1999 and Spa 1998.

We have this type of thread quite often, and the other one I always mention is Fisichella Malaysia 2001. Pulled up towards the grid, forgot his correct position and remembered too late, having no choice but to stall in the middle of the track, causing an aborted start.

Jos on Montoya 2001 was infuriating, Juan was robbed that day. Any sympathy I ever had for Jos is long gone now.

Riccardo Rosset contributed a couple of silly ones, especially his attempt at a spin-turn rejoining at Monaco. No wodner Martin Brundle said that the debate as to whether he was F1 material was short.

I laughed pretty much this year when Yoong was the first driver out on Monaco in Qualifying, everybody is follow him and then he crashes in St Devote and the camera suddenly shows Salo laughing, thats was pretty funny.

DC, Spa 1998. Only after holding Schumacher up for over a lap, eventually slowing down ON the raceline. It was in the wet mind you. Most dangerous and thus biggest mistake in F1 to date. Second biggest mistake is letting keep DC his license after that.

Some of you have an odd idea what embarassing means!

NiceGuyEddie. I'll say it, so others don't have to. I think some others would disagree with you about that and say it could well have been Michael's fault for running into the back of DC. Perhaps some others think that it was a racing accident. And some agree with you. Right that's cleared that up.

OK, next embarrasing moment...
